Pickleball involves understanding your shot selection which is based off of the location of the ball that you are hitting and the positioning of your opponents on their side of the court. You want to calculate what shot is the higher percentage. The placement of your shots will dictate your skill level and who wants to play with you.
Offensive shots are hit on balls that are higher and defensive shots should be hit when your opponents have placed a shot low at your feet, stretched you wide, or you are returning their attacking shot.
Good offense and defense in pickleball involves transitioning forward when you hit low balls to your opponents and transitioning backwards when you or your partner hits a high ball that can be attacked.
