Big rigs have them. Not factory installed but, lot of trucking is companies make it a requirement and condition of employment. Lots of people can't stand them from the privacy stand point. I think a lot of people would be of a similar mindset if cars all had factory dash cams. Should be up to the owner of the car. I do think it would be great factory option tho. But, car companies would make you pay a monthly subscription fee for it to work. Easier to just buy one yourself, install it and have it as a one time purchase with no subscriptions or anything else
There’s a huge privacy issue with that. Especially if the car manufacturer has access to the camera. But if it stores locally, and can be turned off, then that’s a reasonable idea.
Final clip: The Big Boy is the world's largest _OPERATIONAL_ steam locomotive. There were larger and heavier built, but the Big Boy (and its smaller brother the Challenger) are the only ones of that size still operating. I believe the Challenger is currently being overhauled, but the Big Boy was just relatively recently restored and is turning heads everywhere it goes.
@@Urugami45 Depends on what you classify as "bigger." The 2-6-6-6 Allegheny was heavier and could haul more tonnage, but it was much slower; I believe Eerie's Triplex was longer, as well as Santa Fe's fairly insane 2-10-10-2. One thing that makes the Big Boy such a popular locomotive compared to many others of similar size, weight, and hauling capacity is UP's advertising way back when. UP heavily advertised the Big Boy, making it a poster child and spreading knowledge of its abilities far and wide. Of the other locomotives I mentioned, I'd say only the Triplex came close to the same level of widespread awareness, and that was more due to its uniqueness than any marketing.
The Big Boy also runs on what is effectively a refinery waste product. She's a good way for UP to supplement the rest of her mainline and look awesome whilst doing so.
So you've seen it in person? Nice. I can see Big Boy has 8 driven axles. Massive. The biggest I've have seen in person had 6 driven axles. I think it was the Norfolk Southern 1218. So long ago. .... Did you notice the diesel locomotive. Probably a backup in case of issues with Big Boy. Or maybe it was helping a little.
@@tigerzero5216 usually its UP4015 that acts as 4014s support engine but it looks like NS engine is subbing in for it on that trip presumably because 4015 either broken down or getting maintenance in the shop
@@tigerzero5216 Yes, a couple of years ago it was on tour and came through Chicago area. My dad was a train fans so I have seen & riden lots. I had to go & take pics for my brother.
@@qapla well, actually 4014 does have generators, and recently was upgraded so she can run Positive Train Control all on her own, but she usually only runs solo for photo ops. otherwise the helper assists with starting and provides Dynamic braking to reduce wear and tear on 4014 and can take over if she breaks down. Make no mistake though, Big Boy can still pull quite a lot. As evidenced by that time she helped push a stalled freight train up a decent grade while her helper was at high idle once she got going. Her crew clearly couldn't resist the opportunity to put on a show for the crowd and the passengers 4014 was already pulling.
I smile every time you say a Tesla driver is behaving badly, it's perfectly normal for someone in a Tesla to behave like a jerk in traffic. We have Audi and Bmw drivers, but Tesla drivers are by far the worst. But it's also fun for them, creating strange situations in traffic that make one smile and wonder what it was all about he he he. Wham Baam Dashcam is the best channel on RU-vid
@@BluelDev "been anxiously waiting for my crash to make it into one of these videos" Situation you probably meant: "I submitted a video of my crash to the channel and have yet to see it" Darker side of what you typed: "I can't wait to have a car crash to send in"
10:50 That's not Brampton Ontario, That's in Ossington Toronto you can see the TTC bus on the left side of the road and Papi Chulos restaurant on the right.
2:42 it lost a tire because he was running a recap tire instead of a new tire. Recaps almost always throw the thread piece when they blow, normal (non-retread) tires don’t come apart like that.
It is very normal to recap tires on trucks, they usually drive a lot so it is a lot cheaper to recap the tire, but you need to keep track of the age of the tire since you cannot recap forever
But it didn't blow up because it was recapped. Recap is the thread, not the structure. All of our trucks in our fleet have recapped tires, and not a single one has ever blown up.
That’s not why the tire exploded. It’s because it was low on air and the tire overheated and it blew apart that’s what happen. I pulled trailers with recap tires on for years and never ever had one explode.
I doubt it was for "no reason" ... a pre-trip inspection would most likely caught the issue ahead of time, or so my professional big rig driving brothers tell me.lolol
Fun Fact about the last clip that features Union Pacific 4014, she had just finish crossing over the Feather River Canyon which was former Western Pacific Territory. That is one of the reasons why she has that SD70ACe Diesel Locomotive behind her. She would also later hit a tree over in Donnor Pass as well, which would delay the excursion for almost 3 hours.
Big Boy is awesome! Came by my house about a mile away, there was a huge crowd watching it pass. I was just in Omaha on vacation where they have a non operational Big Boy and my gosh that thing is just massive. In the video it’s just a big train. But in person next to it the thing is a behemoth. Love seeing this one still roaming the country. Hope to see it on its current tour passing my house!
Hey Wham Baam, just to give you an idea of the size of the Big Boy, just one of its big drive wheels is as tall as a 5' 8" person, and it has SIXTEEN of them! Plus, it's taller than most semi-trucks. Those brutes were BIG, but still aren't the largest ever made.
The Big Boy was an articulated steam locomotive and was created by the Union Pacific Railroad for crossing the Rocky Mountains. It is the only 4-8-8-4 produced. The term 'articulated' refers to the fact that the frame of the locomotive could pivot or swivel in the center to accommodate curves or turns along the rail route due to the long length of the locomotive. The first '4' refers to the four leading wheels which help steam locomotives navigate turns and keep the powered driving wheels from jumping track and derailing, The '8' refers to the powered drive wheels which are the wheels that make a locomotive move. In the case of the Big Boy's they had two sets of eight drive wheels each. This is mostly unique among steam locomotives. The final '4' refers to the trailing wheels under the engineers cab. These helped support the weight of cab, as well as providing extra space for the fire box and lowering the boiler behind the drive wheels. They are worth reading about. Most are now museum displays.
#6: I just bought a new Mazda from that dealer in December, and had my dashcam installed a couple of days later. Starting to see a lot more footage coming from Knoxville nowadays, but there’s always been bad drivers around there.
(9:50) sigh another driver using the roundabout as a "normal" intersection by driving over the grass instead of driving Around the roundabout centre circle.
Hey, you got a two-for...two for one with the end video of the steam train...if you watch the sky above the train there's a flying round object. Doesn't look familiar but the video is fuzzy. It's an interesting find.
I think that Wham Baam means the cammer and the guy who almost got sideswiped entered early, and illegally. The both used the oncoming turn lane to enter their turn lane early.
2:42 Oh, I know a few very likely reasons for the tire popping. It could be a retreaded tire, the side walls could have been worn, or there was a nail on the road. Im betting it was a retreaded tire based on how it was mostly the tread that came off.
Columbus ohio’s city bus drivers are normally good from what I have seen on the road but sometimes they are just too impatient and want to get done with their job FAST
I'm still waiting on my Viofo dashcam, prompted by a rear end collision. I was on my way to work when I was hit by a taxi! Oddly enough through this process the other driver and I have become great friends... because he lives on the same street! I just got home from a cookout in his backyard.
OK, the one with the bus and the guy in the Tesla. The bus is taking up two lanes. The bus is riding down the center of two lanes, not committing to either one and that’s why the Tesla went around.😮
However, one driver (the bus driver), doing something stupid does not excuse another driver (the Tesla guy) from doing something even more stupid (passing a bus in the oncoming traffic lanes while the bus is signaling left) and illegal (passing over double yellow lines.
"Wham Baam Dashcam always satisfies." So does that mean you have peanuts and caramel too? (Haha JK, when I heard that line the first thing I thought of was Snickers.)
There is never, and I do mean ever an excuse to run a red light if you’re so distracted then you don’t know the light is red. You shouldn’t be driving.
Yeah, it's because of Wham Bam that I got myself a dashcam with front and rear cameras. Here's hoping that I will never actually need them for anything, but I'd rather have them and never use them than not have them and get caught up in a situation!
PSA: I always assume some idiot will run a red light. +20 years of surveying on the roads of S. California taught me to trust no driver to do what he should, especially CA dipsh!ts! A friend of mine got himself T-boned by an old woman who ran a red light because she saw an empty lane, smh. She centered his rear axel and the shock laterally displaced his lumbar spine 12mm! Lucky not to be paralyzed, he endured around 7/10 pain until he died of a heart attack years later. Lesson? If you concider the potential losses financially, physically and loved ones it pays to look both ways! In the larger picture if you need help to wipe your butt would it really matter that you had the right of way!?!?
I agree. After 3 major accidents, & several minor fender benders, all their faults, it's not worth it to get into an accident. Sure, it doesn't cost me anything. But I lost my time dealing with insurance, taking my car to collision repair, getting a rental, then reverse the process. It's NOT fixed to 100% before the accident, maybe 99%. Things are slightly off by 1 mm. Door seals leaks, emergency parking brake got stuck, rear axle leaks. Now I drive to the far left/right of my lane, instead of being centered. After the intersection just turns green, I check for red light runners as I approach the intersection.
My dad taught me to drive. He drilled into my head that you can only control how you drive not anyone else. Always leave yourself room and a way out from idiot drivers. Situational awareness, offense and defensive driving. That advice has saved me many times ... wish it worked better against deer population though.lolol
8:17 - gotta love Sebastian's illegal left turn. You're supposed to go to the closest lane of travel, like the vehicle in front of him did, and then, when safe, move to the next lane over.
I love the look of the Big Boy. Lionel Trains has a O guage Visionline Big Boy locomotive. It's big, highly detailed, has smoke and steam effects. Price tag is over 2000 dollars.
I’ve been driving up and down I-77 between Charlotte NC and Columbia SC for over 15 years several times a week. In that time, I’ve been hit by exploding truck tires no less than 4 times. One of the truck treads landed on my hood and almost came through my windshield. The dent and tread imprint liiked liked like Bigfoot had tried to drive over the Beetle I was driving at the time! There needs to be tighter inspections required on these cheap retread tires a lot of these carriers are using.
This accident is a powerful reminder of the importance of adhering to speed limits on highways, as even a moment of distraction can lead to disastrous consequences.
The Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive is the largest operating steam locomotive in the world and there are 8 Big Boys that are survivors in the states and you should go see them even this one
5:00 when proceeding through an intersection, ALWAYS yield!! Yes, I've had a car accident with a red light runner!! If I had yielded, I could have avoided it. Who cares if the light isn't yellow!! YIELD!!!!
I wonder what has the priority not scratching a car while splattering the head of a pedestrian on the road vs. crumpled bumper and living person ... priorities, I guess.
Yes, and no. They still are far more dangerous than newer vehicles (just look at crash test ratings). New vehicles are designed to crumple everything but the passengers. Older vehicles can take smaller impacts, but it's more violent in the cabin. Anything more than a minor collision and you're a grease spot in the cab.
They transfer all that force into your spine & head depending on where you ping pong inside the cab. A new vehicle is cheaper than decades of medical bills in this country.
Just got my first dash cam today. Still don't have the car yet though 😆🤣 it should be out of the shop in a few days and ready for purchase though. On one hand i can't wait to get a video to send you, on the other hand i hope i never get that chance.
#11 This is why every time i'm driving down the road and see someone trying to turn into a quite large gap in traffic slowly inch forward and stop a couple time, I just think "Either step on it, or just wait. Hesitation is not safe for that."
I drove a Tesla and I liked it The take off was stunning I drove a Tesla just to try it I hope my Honda don't mind it It felt so wrong, it felt so right I drove a Tesla and I liked it
#4: I think that 2003 Silverado Guy was distracted, drunk, or he drank too much Mexican Tequila... Get it? It's Cinco de Mayo so... Nevermind, that's an awful joke.
