This is an overview of my pocket stake antenna mount installation on my Ford F-350. I have two, one on each side. They're strong and support my Yaesu ATAS-100 screwdriver antenna just fine. No noticeable directional issues or SWR issues having it mounted next to the cab. I apologize for the wind noise.
This is the type of pocket stake I used. www.amazon.com/Highland-13400... That picture is awful, so here's another link that has a better picture. www.carid.com/highland/chrome...
You need a pocket stake that connects the tie down to the body through a piece of all-thread. Then you remove the all-thread and enlarge the holes to accept the PL259 barrel connector and add a nut on the bottom side of the barrel connector to secure it as shown in the video.

I basically followed this but made my own plates. Thanks for the inspiration...

Great video and it may save some folks some money, but typically you get what you pay for. The Breedlove mounts are much more heavy duty than this and if you have a larger or heavier antenna it may be your best bet.

How did you ground the antenna mount? I think the entire surface of the pocket hole is primed and painted. Wonder if you were having any counterpoise problems.

At 6:06 you can see the copper braid and the connection to the frame. I don't have the other end attached to the pocket stake in the video but it is attached to the bottom part of the stake mount with a machine screw and nut. Good catch!

Do you remember what brand you got from the truck stop? We don’t have any truck stops close to me so I’m trying to find it on the Internet.

I updated the details for the pocket stake in the video description. You're right, they aren't that easy to find. Good luck!

Great video... But I don't understand why you drilled a hole in the floor. Every Ford I own and have owned, have rubber grommets behind the seats in the back of the cab where you could run your coax through. Now beings yours is a Crew Cab, maybe your grommets are not reachable, I don't know. Anyway, Great Video!

Coming through the back I would have had to lift the carpet for the back row and the front row to route the coax. Staying underneath the truck and following the frame allowed me to come up 6" away from where I installed the radio. I came up under the center console and poked the coax under the front of the console to the radio. Worked best that way for me and was a lot less work than lifting the carpet.

Its a nice place for antenna but it interferes with the cab of the truck!

Hard to hear you at first because of the wind and the camera needs to be more steady but other than that good video it helped me run mine
