i love how he brings humour into such a hard struggle story, shows to us that everything about life is perspective and how you view it, even when the glass is empty, anh would find the good out of it
Ahn Do, you think your sister is beautiful (she is) but you, are the most beautiful person in the world (and my kids think so too). Australia really IS ,THE lucky country, thanks to people like you and your family.
after meeting and working with Ahn, even though it was just for a morning surfing a dirty river in the sunshine for his latest film.I think this interview is great a good reflection of real nice guy. Hope to meet again.
Ahn Do is a refugee who fled from Vietnam at a young age because his family fought in the war with the australians. Of his uncles was a sapper who cleared landmines for the ANZACS so they wouldn't get killed. And then 40 people got in a 9 m boat full of family, cousins and neighbours. After a while they started getting chased and shot at by border patrol. Luckily they got away but one of their engines broke. The next 4 days the boat was going at 30% speed of what it should be going. They ran out of food and water and 1 of them had died. Day 5 there was a boat that was full of thai pirates. They took everything, even the engine, so they were stranded. Few hours later another boat comes by and 9 pirates jump on. His dad said they have nothing but the pirate opens the babies nappy and has all their aussie money left he starts dangling the baby over the boat. The pirate spared his baby brother's life and gave them some water. 2 germans come by the next day and have to break the boat to save them. He is now an actor, author, artist and mostly known for his comedy. He is a proud australian and really is grateful for everyone and everything. Because Australia gave him and his family a second chance he does everything he can to give back. this is for the people at home school
You’re a Beautiful, Wonderful Man and great Ambassador for Australia Anh! Love you and all you do! Your Paintings are Priceless and Magical. I’d love you to paint my portrait. 👏🏼❤️🇦🇺🇻🇳🙏🏼🕊✌🏼💫
Love Ahn Do, growing up Asian Australian myself I always thought he was a bit of a banana Aussie wannabe growing up, but I read his book and I have the utmost respect for him and the life he has lived.
@@petebroady8993 edit 2: Thanks but it would've been funnier if you had corrected me in 10 years so I know your pain, but instead you let me know too early, which I appreciate more, Thanks I guess.
We saw this in school when we were learning about refugees and asylum seekers. We found this very interesting. I found it very strange how he was attacked by pirates! I didn’t even know pirates existed!
Pirates certainly exist. In this context (the refugee boat peoples' experience) they are people who commit crimes at sea. I think you'll be surprised if you look up the word pirate in the dictionary.
