Pie in the Face Polka

Since it was released way back in 1965, you may not have seen the classic comedy The Great Race. But if you haven’t, you should! The all-star cast of Tony Curtis (The Great Leslie), Jack Lemmon (Professor Fate), Natalie Wood (Maggie DuBois), and Peter Falk (Maximillian Meen) gave some of their best performances in a film about a motorcar race from New York City to Paris.
Perhaps the most hilarious scene takes place in a bakery, where the greatest pie fight in film history takes place. Over 4,000 pies filled with custard, whipped cream, and fruit were used for this scene, which took five days to film and cost over $200,000! The music we play tonight, featuring several of our amazing clarinet players, was used for that scene.
