That golden voice of Sarah’s! This incredible performance comes after playing Christine for 6 months @6/7 performances a week. The power of that clear voice which flies and cuts through the choir and orchestra. What incredible restraint to control the forza!

Paul Miles-Kingston was 15 years old at the time of this performance, which was probably one of his last as a boy soprano. Now 43 years old, he is currently Director of Music at the prestigious Saint Peter's School in Yorkshire, England.
I was very surprised to see him singing this at such an old age. I would have thought 11 or 12 would have been the final straw for one's voice to have that color and timbre.
Quite frankly, so was I. As any doctor or voice teacher will tell you, however, no two people are alike in this respect--not even identical twins! In any event, the obviously superior training Mr. Miles-Kingston received in his early years clearly served him well! Now he's using his own training and experience to help and benefit other young men in a similar position as a teacher.
I remember hearing this for the first time about 30 years ago and fell in love with Sarah and Paul and this version. My heart swells on hearing it again. THANK YOU
Seeing as Sarah Brightman and Andrew Lloyd Webber were married at the time, it seems strange to see them shaking hands at the end of the song. I would have thought a kiss on the cheek would have been more appropriate.
Because you don’t have a “musical ear.” His initial notes were quite flat (at least a whole step or more flat), which can happen without ear-mics (which was not common back then), if the performer doesn’t have absolute pitch relative to the piece they are performing. He DID correct his “flatness,” mostly likely his director was pointing UPWARDS☝🏼to indicate “raise your tone boi.”
@@majorlaff8682 As atheists are defined by what they DON'T believe in, there 'll be as many answers to what they DO believe in as there are atheists. Except the existence of a God, that won't be one of them.

Thank you all for translating the lyrics. I somehow felt that it was something very solemn...a beautiful musical requiem. As a catholic I feel at peace & reassured to know their is peace in the everlasting. Believe! 🙏
