I think the trauma is a skit itself, remember he doesnt film this while watching the movie for the first time. But saying so defeats the point of your comment sorry
@@Itssick what do you mean by equal rights? society is protecting women 50% more than men. jokes on you people i said this so Wutaii1 gets more comments
The director seemed so genuinely confused that woman don’t actually exercise naked. It’s like his whole understanding of female behaviour is only through porn.
Thanks for calling out the behaviour of that man... the way he speaks about the female actors was disgusting and this comes from a Spanish person who understand the full demeanor of the words used. Nice one, James!
I’m a film student that loves horror movies and tomorrow I get to start filming on a Stephen king short film that my class got the chance to make. Dead Meat was one of my main inspirations into getting into film. I love all of the behind the scenes facts and the details he gives on practical effects which has always been my favorite part of films. Entertaining as always and Thanks for being such an inspiration!
@@DeadMeat The short story called “The last rung on the ladder” its not exactly one of the more well known Stephen King stories but that’s why we chose to do it because there’s not really a film to compare it to.
Him “pieces is exactly what you think it is” Me “is it a jigsaw puzzle that comes to life and envelops it’s victims to become bigger and grow stronger”
I really appreciate you talking about the messed-up things the director did behind the scenes, it good to be aware of when shit like this happens rather than ignore it
I kind of like when it he moves away from mainstream horror into weird exploitation and zero budget stuff from back in the day because the behind-the-scenes info tends to be a lot more interesting than stuff that was filmed by a Hollywood studio with all the amenities

I can't even imagine how uncomfortable it must have been on set for the actresses in this movie. No way they closed the sets when they shot any of the nude scenes. Probably just crowds of guys leering at you off camera. Same for the guy who played Kendall, I can't imagine they afforded him much more privacy.
Yea excessive nudity adds nothing to the film and just makes it tough for actors/actresses, wish directors would leave out their perverted ideas out of film
Not to mention the director wants NOTHING BUT NUDES in this slasher film. What a perverted sleezeball. I can't stand when directors of movies try their hardest to make every scene in a movie nude with females. It's so disgusting. May as well make a full on porno flick.
@@sticlavoda5632 Not every film production has the same kind of regulations in place while filming. Considering this film clearly involved people of multiple nationalities, it's hard to know how much of the director's "vision" was clearly communicated to the performers. Besides, just because something isn't "technically illegal" doesn't make it not exploitative and creepy.

One of the funniest things about this movie that Cecil/GoodBadFlicks pointed out when he covered it was that the frankencorpse/womanzord at the very end is clearly brunette when the bookcase rotates but when it falls on Kendall it became blonde.
That ending is definitely the most unsettling I've seen. And not in the good Sleepaway Camp type. It's just too gross. Seeing the body grabbing--you know what, I'm not gonna say it. That ending is just...ugh!
@@gabbygabs8271 Yeah like you know I’m the sleep away camp ending when that women was bleeding and her mouth was wide open. I got scared and could not sleep.
I remember when I first watched Pieces, I was initially weirded out by the flashback and time jump. It told us the killer had to be almost 50 years old. I thought it was a weird choice to include that and also have the film set in a college. Really narrowed down the suspect list.
About the dubbing, my guess is that it was made like a giallo. Since the actors acted in different languages, they used to not record the audio and dub all dialog during post-production. In this case, it's an american and spanish production.
Some of the English actors for those movies do their own dub voice for the English versions while others are ether actors from America or English speaking actors in Italy. The most notably actor in the dubs like Pieces is Gregory Snegoff who’s in a lot of foreign films and anime.
It's also not unheard of, even now, for a movie to be ADR'd in production. It's just that this early on, technology made it far harder to sync audio with video properly, so it comes out looking... jarring.

Logic by James A. Janisse: He hates it, yet has watched it mulitple times and STILL SAYS ITS TRASH. I gotta lot of respect for this guy, and he does a lot for his fans. James for life
He said he used to hate it, but still think it’s trash 😂 Very close tho. I just wish he could find enjoyment in stupid movies like I do because I feel for him suffering for us 😂
Everytime I see some trauma to some guys crotch I instantly feel pain and discomfort there, I swear we’re telepathically connected or some shit so when we see that pain we feel it
That chainsaw decapitation was pretty damn good for 1982. It showed the body having spasms, which is pretty realistic. Something that seems to be missing, quite often, in modern slasher flicks. Need to have a post decapitation twitch, it adds to the kill.
" No officier, there's no murderer on campus. This girl was volunteering to trim the hedges when she slipped on a banana peel and fell neck first on the chainsaw LOL."😉🍌😏🤣
Fun fact: Kendall is played by the guy who played the lead singer in the band in Pod People. Lucky him to survive both his most popular trashy horror movies.
If nothing else, this movie now boasts the highest proportion of female kills of any movie on the kill count, with 6/7 (~86%) beating out Suspiria's 7/9 (~78%). Also, shout-out for the Cam mention! Anyone reading this comment should go listen to her song "Diane," which was written as a sequel to Dolly Parton's "Jolene" from Jolene's point of view, and it slaps.
It’s a surprise how Bruce Le (Huang Kin Lang) appeared in only one scene in this movie. I watched some of his films and they’re pretty good! Even after Bruce Lee’s passing, he’s one of the actors to be in “Bruceploitation” films. There are some other Bruce Lee imitator actors as well.
Omg as a Spaniard it is crazy to see James cover Mil gritos tiene la noche on the Kill Count! Thank you James for covering Spanish horror! BTW the Spanish title is way cooler than Pieces (Mil gritos tiene la noche translates to A thousand screams has the the night). I low key like this movie as a campy slasher with some cool kills but it is just too blatantly sexist... I thought that it was just a thing of the genre and the times but as both a Spaniard and a fan of the movie I did not know that Simón (and the disgusting guys in the behind the scenes) were such sexists assholes... It was quite sad and infuriating to see ngl I think that with your kill counts of REC you may have gone through the best spanish horror films but if you want to add one you should check out Who Can Kill A Child? it is a great film with an interesting concept!
@@damiancamaratrigo6979 También me gusta mucho Tuno negro! Recuerdo que fue una de las primeras películas de terror españolas que vi en mi infancia jaja
God damn it that's one of my pet peeves, you know when someone silently sneaks up on you with a running chainsaw and gets the jump on you. I mean how are you supposed to avoid somthing like that?
I can usually ignore the nudity and straight up grossness of casting if the movie is gory enough to have fun to watch kills, but the director is so cartoonishly sleezy that I only got halfway through this video before being so uncomfortable that I had to stop.
I've always thought of the the ending as one of those "Gotcha!" fake-out dream sequences used for cheap jump scares, except that they just didn't bother to film a traumatized Kendall waking up. Very similar to the very bizarre, wtf final scene of Deadly Friend.
