Pierre, thank you.. when dadgad became, before music, a way of walking and thinking... our guitar became a good friend and life it's easy. God bless you ❤ Art
This is perhaps the most brilliant DADGAD video ever made. The fact that it is made by the Master of DADGAD is a blessing. The first time I heard Pierre Bensusan play was around 1974/75 at a music store and it stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't believe the sheer beauty of what I was hearing and the artistry of the person who created that sound. I asked the clerk who was playing and he said " I dunno. Some French guy. I bought the album and wore the grooves off the vinyl. Now I have a better idea of how he did it. Vinyl is gone. CD's are gone. But Pierre Bensusan is still making beautiful music and sharing it with the world. Go to one of his concerts if you get the opportunity. He's brilliant in concert as well. Thank you Pierre and many blessings for sharing this with us.
I heard "So Long Michael" for the first time 2 months ago, and I knew I needed to learn it and play it. My guitar has been tuned to DADGAD for 2 months, and Ive learned the song to the best of my abilities but now I dont want to go back to standard 😂
Perfect timing for me, Pierre! I recently dug out of storage my copy of “The Guitar Book” and am learning Au Jardin D’Amour. We bought your book decades ago but saw it was too beyond our ability at the time… These last few years I have taken up banjo, more specifically clawhammer style, but play anything but traditional banjo tunes. Recently I became adventurous and tried some other than standard tunings and my music playing ability blossomed. I am self taught and know little about music theory. I find the alternate tunings allow me to abandon the little knowledge I do have and just try to play what sounds good. They force me to rely on my ears! I love the double C tuning on the banjo. -But then a neighbour mentioned having your book. I dug my copy out (and my long abandoned classical guitar, too) and I absolutely LOVE the DADGAD tuning! I’m freestyle picking on my guitar and finding notes and rhythms I’ve never knew existed. I listened to your music a lot through the 80’s and 90’s but now I am eager to catch up with your later creations. Thank you for re-showing up in my world! ❤
Excellent and thank you for your comment. Anything that "forces" you to use your ears is a good thing, since your ears are the only element you really need to transform emotions and feelings into music, using whatever instrument you wish to use in the process. Thank you for your support and listening and enjoy the journey!
Just found your channel after listening to Azwan. Your music is always very enjoyable, I particularly like Abeilles 😊 A very interesting addition to your channel would be if you spoke a little about your guitars, what you like about them specifically, how their design affects the sounds and playability, set up tips etc. I would have thought they are very personal and significant things for you. Thank you 🙂
I cant describe how fortunate i feel to have found this Pierre Bensusan workshop video! I will watch and rewatch this several times. Dear Me Bensusan, you are a great inspiration in my life. Thank you for all the beautiful music you have brought to my life. I am so very grateful for this instruction. Enjoy your day. Thank you!
I have been using ADADF#AD in a secret reference pitch frequency for my music. This new knowledge has me wanting to expand my body's knowledge and honor my inspirations such as you and what came before us. The musical language is so beautiful... I always say masters of music speak in their home frequency, and always in that key. It's clear with you. I hope we cross paths in person one day, Monsieur. Thank you for sharing your legacy so in depth with us. I could enjoy this all day every day. Almost like how Bob Ross conveys his art. You are showing us the joy of the language you have such a grasp of, and translating it into the strange english tongue. How very precious this is, to have documented forever, beyond our lifespan, even... Again, thank you.
Thanks Pierre. I have been motivated by Silent Passenger during the past seven years. That's probably one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. Life's getting busier now, but I am pretty sure I will learn to play this song later. Thanks again for this workshop and for all the performances!
Merci Pierre pour ces vidéos! Le NeckUp support m’intéresse, utilisez-vous la version GS1 Standard ou GS1C Classical ? Je joue la plupart du temps en position classique comme vous.
I have been playing guitar since 1994 and also am self taught. This is a fantastic lesson! I was always afraid to alter my tunings. And of my 2 small children, who are 5 and 8, my 8 yr old is autistic. I gave him a guitar last Dec and he didn't touch it for almost 4 months. I put the guitar in DADGAD tuning and he played for 3 hrs straight. This lesson helped me so much in trying to show my son how much fun the guitar is. Thank you so much!!
