“Slow Looking”: Brilliant! Tate Gallery has hit upon a new innovation that one could only enjoy during the “off hours” on weekdays as opposed to weekends; definitely not Sundays! I have always loved Bonnard’s works since I first laid eyes on them. I am drawn to color. Pure color and powerful: Dufy, Prendergast, and, of course, Van Gogh. I do hope more galleries and museums throughout the world will at least set aside certain days and hours when visitors can relax and really study and process the works of great artists, not only their techniques, but more importantly, I believe, is the emotional state in which each work was created. This type of viewing and contemplation cannot be achieved while the gallery- and museum-goers are crowded together, shoulder to shoulder, and then herded along like cattle to the next work, and then the next, and so on. Thank you, Tate Gallery!

I really like the Paintings of Bonnard - they are quite phantastic when seen in reality. This very short show was also interesting but much too short

It is pleasin to the eye yes though not particularly good art as a lot of his paintings are dabbly and blurred.

Did I hear that correctly about the Tate giving you 'timed' tickets??

A very fine autumnal suit - Stephen is wearing. You need such, before a Bonnard. 😉

Very good advice - just stop up - take a longer look - and feel the painting -

Talking heads are full screen...but not the art. What priorities?

Far too crowded. Packing them in. Unable to enjoy it.

Are you stating that Bonnard is mediocre?

Pierre Bonnard 'the painter of happiness' ...hmm? Don't see much happiness in his stuff - only a reluctant resignation to an awkard, smudged domesticity. I have a few books on him because he did paint some remarkable pictures in amongst his otherwise ill conceived oeuvre.

‘’ill conceived oeuvre.’’ lol
