I recommend to buy his books. Support directly the actor himself who have spent so much of his time to give us the knowledge. Directly from himself without any second interpretation. I understand that some people have troubles to understand him but…It’s academic language, it’s very difficult to understand. It’s academic sociology terminology. Anyway! Thanks for shearing. It’s wonderful to hear him. I whisk one day I could ask some questions 🤯🧠🙌 I’m studying social work in Norway and we have another causes of social problems. Here it’s easier to prevent but we will see if some of my colleagues will prevent too. Many social problems had we solve if we sol social workers had more focus in the help/prevention as earlier as possible.

I've tried to find a transcription online. No joy perhaps due to the Google algorithms being subverted. Just took me straight to to the Clinton Foundation donate page.

As is sometimes possible with Bourdieu can we extrapolate from the example of gender domination to world systems type hegemony of an oligarchy over a population?

I wish his lecture had been in French, it would have been far more intelligible. Sadly most Americans including "scholars" are monolingual.

Hey, why not translate what he said into French, German and Russian! Can you do it by Sunday? I want to see how smart you are........

So it would've been more intelligible to people who speak French, but completely unintelligible for the majority of the audience. Great idea, I'm sure that would really satisfy your ego.

@@maxreehill8655 I think she meant Bourdieu himself was having difficulty expressing himself in English, making it indeed less intelligible. He's really struggling, like at 49:02 :) It's easier for people to listen to a foreign language than to speak it, so it often makes sense, to improve the quality of the communication, to prefer letting the passive listener adapt to the speaker's native tongue ... when possible, of course.

@@lyndseykramer5423 If you could understand him, and follow without loosing track or attention, despite such a pronounced accent, flat intonation, and lots of blanks between words, then that's encouraging for many people who are intimidated to speak English ;)

His nervousness explains why he was so critical of the social order. A shame for me as I came here, after reading many of his books, hoping to see a coherent theorist, not a fumbling anxiety case. Status anxiety. Very annoyingly simple.
