Mr Frick would be proud of this superb presentation, and especially commendable the very accurate pronunciation in both French and English!

When the narrorator mentioned mercury was mixed with gold dust and then the piece was dipped into the mixture up to 4 times and then set into the fire, to allow the mercury to vaporize... it confirms why so many of these skilled artisans died so young. Inhaling the toxic mercury fumes, would have been lethal and consistently inhaling the mercury would have been a recipe for a truly horrific and painful death.

Watching things like this is both transcendent and anxiety producing for me. It's inspiring for obvious reasons, but it also makes me incredibly sad that there are so few people skilled enough to do this sort of work - that we have chosen cheap, easy, and disposable over excellence (beyond material things, isn't this reflected in many aspects of our culture and personal relationships, too?). It also makes me panicky that I won't have enough time to create everything I want to, to the level of mastery I would like to. Just look at that Gorgon/Snake piece in the beginning...
