Its a good thing to be given a huge public platform to talk about a serious issue and make jokes and a mock your interlocutor instead of giving actual arguments for the issue for people to learn from? And that might be why many muslims suck at arguing as they think personal attacks and ad hominems mean success in a debate. Its a sign you dont have good arguments or rebuttals and are in denial and you are losing the debate. Both other guys sucked too, turns out most people are not good at debating but when they do meet someone good at it, they get crushed because they did not learn how to debate properly.

But calling someone a pervert in public and looming over that comment, interrupting him all the time and not letting him speak, is not really professional. Even if you know someone's weakness and what would trigger them, it is not adding anything to the argument really. They will be held accountable for what they said and what they did, in their past and in their present, that's true. But you will also be held accountable for yours. Did the argument really help and was it really working in the path of Allah or did it just spiral out of control for someone's arrogance and another's fiddling with his weaknesses? Did your argument on the show change anything for the good or did it only work to make the show more popular or prove your own point?
Brothers I think it’s important to note the difference for the public that this isn’t Da’wa, it’s more like defence, let’s say. For everyone who’s doing Da’wa with someone you have to practice the Wisdom and the Good Advice that Allah commanded us with in Surat Al Nahl, ayah 125. And reflect upon how our prophet treated people whom he even knew were not only his clear enemies, but hypocrites. He had a great opportunity to provide solid justification for his side, and instead used it to make personal attacks and ad homs, the sign of a person losing a debate but it did not even start yet and he was doing it. Tell me, what did you really learn from that debate? Because all that I learned was how not to debate.

I believe Hijabs points are correct, those are the things you need to be able to reach a level of confidence. Not everyone that is confident has a close to death experience, but everyone thats confident builds it the way hijab had mentioned.
