You and your family are the ONLY people I know who MOVED TO California! I've met so many people here in NC that came FROM NY, Cali, Illinois, Wisconsin that just had to get out and away from the "CRAZIES". That includes aunts and uncles and friends who used to love the state. My aunt sold here two bedroom nothing of a home in a crappy location for $1.2 Million in San Francisco. Bought a 4 bedroom mansion in Tennessee for $395,000 and is paying 1/3 the taxes with no restrictions on gas stoves, cars, and all the other crazy climate agenda mandated in Cali. Hope you can survive the tax rates, and all the political bull crap that goes with your move. You've always had a great channel on figs, and I have learned a lot from them. Fill us in on your journey. Best wishes, and still subscribed!
Congratulations on the new place.......make sure you check the flood zone maps before you building anything adjacent to the Creek on your property. In a monster rain (6 to 10 inches) in 24 hour period; it could easily come over the bank; destroy your well pump and depending on location your Greenhouse as well. It is worth the time to check before you actually build something......Regards Tom
Congratulations Pete!! Your property looks awesome and you'll have great weather for growing fig trees. I have close friends in Auburn and they have greenhouses that they built. If you need any ideas or recommendations for supplies, let me know. I can get you connected with them. Nick
A nice property. A lot of work to do. My experience thought me to do a little every year. Not all at once. Everyplace has its own challenges. I'm still making adjustments on my property. Third president said " in the garden I grow " Good luck with this endeavor.
Good to have you back in the Figology 😂 community/conversations. I spent over 30 years in the Sacramento area so I’m familiar with the Auburn and New Castle area, such beautiful country. Congratulations.
Congratulations! looks like you're off to a good start. I love the idea of clearing the land with goats, I did that for many years in Oroville, and they did a great job. Keep us posted as you work your land into the orchard and business you are dreaming of!
Great looking property Pete - congratulations on finding it! Your situation reminds me a lot of the movie/documentary The Biggest Little Farm. If you haven't seen it you MUST watch it to get inspired. Good luck with the well. Please do keep us posted with update videos!
Do you have all 4 seasons there? Please keep updating us on your fig cuttings progress as well. I am new to figs so we will be growing a new batch of figs together. Don't quit yt though, I love your videos and think you could become one of the larger fig yt channels!
You may do better with pigs to take care of the blackberries and other shrubs. The pigs will eat the roots too and goats will not. Thus the shrubs will grow back really fast.
