Long time since we did a Pigeon Shooting Video as we've been busy on our Estates with Pheasant Shooting however we managed a few hours on New Years Day and a bit of time to knock together a short video to let you know we are still here. We get asked lot's of questions after our Pigeon Shooting videos so let me answer the common questions:
Q: What gun and choke do you use?
A: I use a Winchester SX4 and Sam uses an SX3, we both use a modified Kicks Hy-Flyer
Q: What Cartridges do you use?

Q: What camera's do you use?
A: Just a couple of cheap old GoPro's and a cheap camcorder, I think the lot with clips and straps cost under £150
Q: What do you do with all your pigeons?
A: We use a lot ourselves in pies, curries, burgers, stews, sausages, pan fried, etc. We also mince a lot and use them as you would use beef mince. Some go to the Game Dealer when the price is good. We shoot some with steel shot and these go to falconers. We do give some away locally in order to help introduce people to this sustainable, tasty and healthy harvest.
Q: What decoy pattern do you use?
A: Leave this one with us and we will do you a video if you like? Contrary to what some will say there is not a right or wrong and you need to adapt your spread to the circumstances. Remember that the most important thing is to be where the birds want to be so, like us, spend more time scouting that shooting. In general if you are where the birds want to be then they will come to you!
Q: Do I need a flapper and magnet?
A: We use both but you don't need both. I would have a flapper in preference to a magnet if I could only afford one. Don't buy a cheap flapper as they drop to bits! If you can't afford a flapper then bouncer poles do a good job and in the years before we had all this mechanical stuff we still shot good bags of pigeons and the populations were smaller then and no less harassed.
