Dear Tami, thank you for updating me with more photos and stories between you and your piggies, especially Goldie and Goldwin! I love your interactions with your piggies! I am amazed that you have to prepare many vegetables daily, cutting 13 pieces of each--imagine that! You really are raising a big piggy family! How terrific! How brave! Pepper seeds provide fiber, protein, linoleic acid, minerals, and anti-cancer properties. However, you and your vet are correct; the nutrition quality is much higher in the pepper than in the seeds. So, from this perspective, it is appropriate to feed piggies the pepper itself and avoid the seed. You are right! My consideration is that pepper seeds provide a different chewing experience for the piggies. They must learn to chew patiently (molars keep grinding the same spot) to break through the fiber in pepper seeds and make good use of them. It is a different experience from chewing grass. In doing so, each of my piggies would evaluate by herself whether she wanted to like the seeds or not. Training piggies to learn what is good and healthy and what deserves to be liked is very important. Over time, they also learn about what vegetables they should eat more and what should be eaten first! So, in every way, you are right; pepper seeds are not the best food for piggies. But giving piggies a chance to learn what is more valuable for them and what is less effective in nutrition is a different thing. I want my piggies to arm with more skills when savoring all the fresh weeds, veggies, and fruits because each pig needs a slightly different degree of each nutrition category. Only each pig can figure it out themselves. 😉 I love it when people do things differently! I always see the difference as a whole new world for further research, not just for the scientific end but also more for humanity, which, in terms of guinea pigs, is the life of piggy itself that matters--piggy's choice and piggy's judgment. Seulement moi j‘ai eu les 6 malades en même temps à cause d‘une salade Batavia. C‘était sport avec les médicaments et le gavage.
