The virtual Synth Pigments by Arturia is a beast of an Instrument. And it's quite overwhelming when you first look at it. So i decided to make an Introduction to Pigments 5, instead of just talking about the new features of this version.
While i focus on only the most important things in Pigments 5 i cover everything of the Synth Panel, from the sound engines and their endless possibilities, to filters and the meaning of all those colorful fields that make Pigments look so unique.
We also check out the effects section of this mighty synth and the Sequencer with its powerful randomizer.
After only a few minutes of my Pigments 5 tutorial you will have a better understanding of this famous virtual synthesizer and feel enabled to create your own sound presets.

Hey thankyou for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. I recently purchased Arturia V collection and Pigments and having a fantastic time with near endless inspiration and creative possibilities. I would like to explore further and actually have a go at synthesis and creating my own patches from scratch. I have been told to pick a synth and try to stick to it which sounds like good advice. Would you recommend Pigments for a beginner? I am familiar with the fundamentals of how sound is synthesised via an oscillating source and further shaped/modulated by adsr and filters/fx.

@thegroundnoise thankyou! I am enjoying them currently. This is going to sound like a really obvious and silly thing but i am having a conceptual difficulty around pigments and sound design. How do i start with a basic patch/preset? There is normally a default on Arturia's other soft synths but i can't seem to confidently come to a decision about which state the Pigments synth should be in before i begin playing around. I need a basic barebones preset so i can learn as i expirement.
