Couple of the DrunkenAnglers boys out chasing Pike as we near the end of the season.
Only managed one catch between us but we still enjoyed the day and the weather held out right until we packed up and left.
We found this spot a few weeks back and I had two good takes, back to back the first time we fished it but unfortunately, I never managed to land either of the fish due to an issue with the way I was rigging my dead bait, which didn't allow the trebbles to free up from the bait to hook the Pike properly.
Today I returned with a new way of rigging the dead bait and was quite confident that if I got another bite, it wouldn't get away and this time, it didn't, as you can see!
Not the best fish in the world but as my friend stated, a fish none the less.
What you couldn't see in the video was that the poor pike had at some time in its life, lost its left eye and it had a fair few battle scars on it's flanks.
Later we tried various spots up and down the river where we'd had some luck with takes on previous trips but there wasn't much doing at all.
Well, now it's time to pack away the pike gear and fetch out all the heavy Carping rods and tackle again :) Bring on those long, warm, late summer evenings... Wooo Hooooo!!!
