Oh man... VR Pikmin looks like quite an experience! Imagine a well-polished version of the game designed for VR, with more a more user-friendly camera that doesn't feel quite so zoomed in. That would be INCREDIBLE.
You actually can look up, I just didn't do it much because of how it looked on video. It would cause black bars to appear and it wasn't very appealing.
If it were possible, I think Pikmin 4 would be the best Pikmin game to benefit from VR. Not just because the environments are detailed enough that change in perspective wouldn’t overexpose the limitations (and the view you get from riding atop Oatchi), but the auto-lock would actually feel more justified since manually aiming your cursor in first person is kind of a nightmare. The tragic part is, it’s very nearly possible for Pikmin 4 VR to happen but not quite. Prominent VR modder Praydog has been working on something called a Universal Unreal VR Injector (shorthand is UEVR) that can implement a surprisingly stable VR mode for almost any Unreal Engine 4 and 5 games, ideally ones that are in first person. While Pikmin 4 miraculously runs on UE4 and can be feasibly modded to be played in first person, UEVR comes with a catch in that it only works on the PC version of a UE4/5 game. Unless Nintendo somehow decides to break an almost 40 year tradition of refusing to port their games to PC, Pikmin 4 VR won’t be happening anytime soon.
But considering it's UE I wouldn't be surprised if people managed to reverse ingeneer the proyect and port it to PC However while they do it they will probably get sued anyway
This is going to raise some nightmares since you are now seeing dangerous creatures like Segmented Crawbster up close. It's like an Indiana Jones scene where you run away from a large boulder.
If there was an actual pikmin vr game, I think it would be like you are watching the pikmin do things without a captain from your own scale, and you can interact with them, objects, and enemies. Like a sandbox game! Maybe there could even be AR or spawning objects and enemies so you could set up challenges for the pikmin, or just help them make more of themselves.
Yeah this is something I did on stream a couple years ago, its a really awesome experience to be in the Pikmin world in first person VR, but you'll notice especially with long leg bosses and more so just the endgame in general that the experience gets very awkward because of just how much you can see in comparison to the base game, the final boss inparticular took me a very long time as i had to play it very safe, controlling your pikmin is alot harder when you can't see them all behind you all the time or even the full area around you. The majority is very fun, but i sure had enough by time it was done i wont lie.
LOL! That little AVGN clip "That's right, we're gonna cheat" had me laughing so much. 🤣 Man, AVGN is so classic and it's always good to see references to those older videos. Anyways, I love this mod and it's actually kinda cool to see Pikmin in VR. I remember watching Shesez's old Pikmin boundary break video to see some of the secrets because you just know Pikmin is the kind of game where having a perspective from something small and up close can at least be interesting. Good job on this video, it was very interesting!
"Have you ever wanted to live inside the world of Pikmin?" No. No I would not. Because that means I have to live in constant fear of a Water based being falling from the sky and steamrolling me and my entire squad.
what i love about pikmin is how huge and mysterious the series can feel at times. now that ive beat them all multiple times i feel its lost its charm. i remember saying to someone recently that i wish everything was just bigger and i wish the games were harder. my most recent playthrough i realised the enemy that killed the most pikmin are the fiery bulborb. i realised that the game could be a lot harder if i just restricted myself. the rules for the "pov: your a kid and suck at games" run by me :) : -you cannot use purple pikmin for combat at all, the only time you are allowed to use them is if you literally cant progress without them (getting the globe and the water wraith) -you cannot reset the game, nope, not once, if you reset the game you fail. -you cannot duplicate sprays, thats right no pushing olimar aggresivly to get 2 bitter sprays for you -beat before day 30 (just for extra hard :) -no guides no videos to help, your only allowed to ask your best friends cousin who beat the game back in 2007 for advice, if he has played it recently this does is illegal - (optional rule) you cannot charge with your pikmin, you gotta throw em and thats it buckaroo -(optional rule) for roleplay purposes this is your first time playing pikmin 2 therefore it would make 0 sense for you to skip any dialogue or cutscenes becasue its your first time round. (i have not tested this yet so if anyone wants to give it a go let me know how it went)
If Nintendo ever tried VR, I think this, as a launch lineup: "Super Mario Bros. VR" The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild VR Metroid Prime VR Kirby and the Crystal Shards VR Pikmin 2 VR
"Day 81. They have figured out how to see through my eyes. they truly control me now. before they could make me do simple actions, now they can do anything they want with my body. If my wife somehow reads this, i am working on a way out of his control. This was captain Olimar, signing off."
I really wish someone would pick back up development of dolphin vr. imagine this with a full skybox and the ability to pluck pikmin with your hand, or throw them also you really cheated through one of the shortest main campaigns. shame.
@@TheMitzez im biased because every time i got to play pikmin 2 for just a minute it turns into an entire playthrough up to the point where the debt is paid off
