A theory I really like is that it's actually a Pikmin made by the onion to guide the regular Pikmin. We know that the Pikmin hold Olimar in a near-godlike status, and every game we return to the planet to see them near extinction. It's likely that the Onion realizes the Pikmin cannot survive without a captain, so attempted to create one for them based on Olimar, but the new "Olimin" unfortunately went rogue.
Actually thats not true, in pikmin 1s true ending shows the pikmin have learned from olimar and fight back the predators , in 2 we see them in small groups the reds were stated to be in danger...but let's he honest 4 reds can easily kill that tiny bulborb, and the yellows and blues are doing well for themselves the pikmin aren't hiding anymore, in pikmin 2s ending we see how the pikmin are truly thriving as we see them all over the planet , in pikmin 3 the pikmin are in a better position then ever to the point there onions have evolved with them be able to combine into one big homemade for them and again we see pikmin just casual roaming there little spots , we don't have to repopulate from a single seed anymore like pikmin 1
I propose that Olimin is a evolution of a pikmin that was made after olimars first contact with pikmin to help lead pikmin in the absence of a captain. And to take from someone with a theory, the golden plasm wraith was looking for Olimin. The reason Olimin takes castaways is to make more Captmins out of them
Actually no, it isn't that great thing you were talking about. This is actually a pig actually olimar from the bad ending a pigment one where he finally gets reincarnated onion
if this actually turns out to be olimar I wonder how this will turn out in the game. will he be turned back to normal? will he just die? will the rescue corps recognize him as olimar or will they be oblivious? I can't be the only person to be curious about this
It it is him, I highly doubt they could ever undo the transformation. In order to become a "pikmin-person", like in the pikmin 1 bad ending, you first have to die.
@@speltincorrectyl1844these people have warp speed drives and the technology to detect interdimensional beings and it's a nintendo game. a kids game. they're going to turn him back to normal in the end and he's going to carry on having wacky space adventures
I think its just what ever they mistook Olimar for in the first game, which he wrote about in his log. Especially since they seemed to have a cultural name for the 2p battles, indicating a long standing culture on that planet.
I personally believe that olimar has been kidnapped and that the olimin is merely a Pikmin that admired olimar or the original leader species of the Pikmin that also admires olimar. All it wants to do is be a good leader and probably is testing the player to see if they are worthy of saving olimar. It's probably why it kidnaps castaways. It wants to act as an obstacle similar to that of olimars kidnapper. The player has to be better than him because even he failed to save olimar or is incapable.
One thing to note is that the olimin can speak, so it's possible someone taught it how to speak, Most likely olimar. If it was olimar reincarnated, he likely wouldn't speak and be a character that only does gestures. I highly doubt they'll lack the attention to detail that this is a different planet and that the creatures there wouldn't know galactic language.
My belief is that this "Robert" guy is a rescue crew member who didn't make it, and got turned into a Pikmin, like Olimar did in the non-canon bad ending of Pikmin 1. His doglike companion could have also been from that rescue team, but eaten a parasitic Pikmin (like some Bulborbs had in Pikmin 2, creating Bulbmins) and then said Pikmin take control of its new host.
imo, each different wraith represents a different part of the umibozu, the first one wants nothing to do with the others, water wraith is rage or hate, and the plasm wraith is the want to have olimar, so this new furry olimar would be pettiness, it could never have olimar so it recreated him, being very prideful in their abilities, that’s why he says “let’s see if your skills are superior to mine” (or smth lik dat)
Is it just me or did the crashes get increasingly worse as time went on like it went from getting knocked away by a meteoroid or crashing into a tree to literally being blown up in orbit.
With your posessed Olimar theory, I kind of hope that the final boss is just mimicing us while we try to fight it. (like we go to the left, Olimar goes to the left)
I’ve always had an idea that either the Mamuta created the pikmin since they do have the Pattern of the onions on their arms and they do treat the pikmin nicely they seem almost like a kind god if anything…. Or they’re an Invasive Species from another entirely different planet. That wouldn’t make sense since well literally every enemy is the pikmin’s natural predator so having them be an invasive species wouldn’t work
I don’t think they’re an invasive species as they seem too fond of Pikmin and have the exact same markings as the Pikmin onions. They’ve got to be related somehow but It’s hard to figure out in what way
It's gotta be Olimar. The Wraiths have no reason to incorporate a Pikmin stem on Olimar's head. The main reason they come to the planet is to find Olimar's distress signal, and I bet the end of the game will have us cure the possessed Olimar.
We do know it’s Olimar during the bad ending because in the newest direct we can see the destroyed version of the S.S Dolphin from Pikmin 1 in the trailer
Also there's one thing with this theory that holds my mind. "Why would the Wraith make itself a hairy helmetless Olimar, rather than copying Olimar exactly as he's seen" You brush over this but its pretty major, it'd be insanely random for him to modify Olimar's appearance so much. And then it hit me. Although you dont want to believe the Hairy guy is Olimar, it seems pretty clearly set to be him, despite the fact that they dont tell us his name! Very strange. ...So what if they play on that want of players, that want of old time players for that to NOT be Olimar. You do find Olimar separately from the hairy guy, he looks completely normal and you rescue him But That Olimar is the Plasim wraith. That's also why the "Hairy guy" is trying to gather the castaways himself He knows the Plasma wraith is disguising as one of them and is trying to flush it out, but he's kidna half nuts from being pikminified.
It seems plausible that some explorers other than the ones we see in the games went to pnf-404. Maybe they crashed and died, and then become the "olimin" like the pikmin 1 bad ending. The only resemblance the "olimin" has to Olimar is the nose. That could be a coincidence.
Here is a theory, what if the ways onions renew themselves by transforming certain things into unique types of Pikmin, where they gradually become Onions over time, we know that Pikmin can be Parasitic as shown through Bulbmin, the Pikmin seem to be naturally incline in taking anything, including Olimar, to the onion, and the Plasm Wraith’s behavior seems to hint that maybe it lost it’s baby. So what I propose is that the Pikmin might’ve harvested the child of the Wraith, which developed into the new onions we see in that game, leading to the Wraith mistaking Olimar when they saw him with the Pikmin. Although the Wraith is irregular it is possible, like the Mamuta, it has a natural reproduction method, plus it’s irregularity could allow us to connect that creatures that irregular, like an unfamiliar captain from another planet, might be the perfect hosts to develop onion seeds, that would also explain the onion flowers, why Olimar doesn’t just become a red Pikmin, why we don’t know what happened to the Pikmin with Olimar in 3, and why the onions differ from game to game.
The pikmin 3 dx piklopedia olimar entry for the plasmwraith says that the plasmwraith and waterwraith are different creatures but it does say they're similar so I like to think that they're siblings
Okay, this is probably the highest production and best Pikmin theory I've seen ever. I loved your presentation man, and even if it doesn't end up happening in-game, even more so than I ever have I'm fully buying into the umibōzu theory. I hope you're right and I hope Pikmin 4's good because it looks like it has PEAKMIN potential. You just got yourself another subscriber and I can't wait to see more from you!
I can hear the narrator struggling to hold back his pained laughter after learned that the Rescue Corps(who were sent to save Olimar after he crashed landed for the 4th time) also crashed
Further supporting the Umibōzu theory, A lot of people have been saying Red Olimin is “bad ending Olimar”. But why is he stealing our castaways then? Other than pure spite for being left alone on the planet, I couldn’t see why. The Red Olimin stealing the castaways falls in line with the plasm wraith and water wraith’s behaviour. These 3 creatures all seem to be madly obsessed with the captain (like the Umibōzu). But this is all just speculation... #RobertPikmin4
A theory that I found is that olimin is stealing captains and then fighting us in dandori battle to make sure we survive, unlike him. He says "I will return you castaway if you prove your dandori skills are better than mine" Maybe he is trying to make sure the rescue corps don't suffer the same fate as him?
"Olimar" specifically says that we must prove to him were better than him at the thing he challenge us to so it might be just to test us to see if we're able to survive here and not ending up like him (since its time limit game and Olimar supposedly died because of lack of time and the rescue corps coming too late (one month later))
When I saw that red hairy thing that seems to resemble Olimar, I instantly thought this was a canon concept that took place after pikmin 3, but that takes the idea from the un-canon bad ending of pikmin 1, since he even has the antennae with the leaf on top
Unrelated to the theory, but it makes me unbelievably happy that non-Zelda/Metroid games like this are having their lore and story analyzed before the game even releases. Dedicated fanbase.
I think it's that but also i think it might be that it was another team like a rescue team that failed to get olimar either by arriving right after he left and never knew that or they crashed on the other side of the planet and couldn't fix their ship in time.
I have an idea that that isn’t the original Olimin but a newly grown one with the castaways. At the end of the game we have to fight 100 Olimin while being chased by the original Olimin in some mech that turns out to be the dolphin. Maybe the different Olimin have different colors and different resistances.
This has to be a form of the plasma wrath and the fact that the final bosses from pikmin 2 and onwards where wraths, because the fact that the titan dweivle turns into goo after being defeated can’t be a coincidence, it’s to similar, and the titan dweivle and the plasma wrath both use elements, but that could be a coincidence
That mysterious leafling guy is DEFINITELY Olimar. There's no doubt about it.... but of course, he's also almost _definitely_ being possessed or mind controlled in some way. Olimar would never capture people and turn them into leaflings by his own free will.
Are the Pikmin doomed? Nah son! The Umibozu's got NOTHING on the Pikmin. Every time it rears its ugly head, the Pikmin are the key to defeating it. They can outnumber and overpower _any_ otherworldly entity.
i hope that maybe that limit is upgradeable or smth that can be leveled up the more u progress as there are many mechanics that are broken by this limit
I believe the idea is to create a well-rounded team (ala Lego Star Wars) to accomplish goals in multiple ways. Common critique was that rock pikmin were too similar to purples, wing pikmin (and now ice pikmin) invalidate blue's ability etc... And to add a planning element to your days (and caves) ahead of time. Take the pikmin you need to accomplish the goal instead of just a few of everything. I think its a smart idea.
I had the idea that the Olimin (Red Olimar from the trailer) was related to the plasm wraith in some way, maybe one of its constructs? Maybe they wanted Olimar’s DNA to take over Hocotate maybe? An asteroid might be how it goes from planet to planet
Im pretty sure robert is just olimar because in the demo he finds the blue space dog and robert transforms the castaways into a leafy being just like robert
I left my own theory like this on a difficult video but here it is again. So, whatever Wraith we fight this time made a clone of Olimar with Pikmin DNA and the same with his Oatchi. So in the final dandori battle we end up discovering that and follow the goopified Oliman to the final boss.
Honestly, with Pikmin 4 showing obvious signs that Human civilization is going, I think the force that continues to cause all the ships to crash might be Human interference. Idk, it's just a little weird that that the wraith can cause ships to crash-land from the atmosphere, but on the surface during the boss fights in displays no abilities that suggest it has that kind've power, especially in the first Pikmin as the goolax, or as the water wraith. Humans creating interference with their ships so that don't notice an oncoming rock, or messing their navigations so they crash into a tree branch, etc.. I could see that happening. Intentional or not. Idk, if just seems kinda odd that after all these years they only now show up fully intact and cleaned up houses, when most of us believe this was some kinda post-apocalyptic earth.
Im still personally convinced its a prequel, so if the wraith exists it’d probably be the waterwraith or something similar again as it wont have had time to become the plasm wraith
Glad to see this, my first thought was a dead captain seeing that trailer, also I think all the crash landings could be just satelite debris considering pnf404 is clearly earth you don't need to fight dark souls bosses 100 times, contrary to popular belief, that game is hard but mostly fair
the only thing about this theory is- in the demo- we WATCH this NotOlimar create another being like himself- and it IS by throwing a castaway into the onion.
After playing the demo I think an onion turned olimar into a leafling to keep him and the dandori battles are for practicing dandori so that Pikmin don’t go extinct
I agree that Brittany kind of sucks. I get that they needed a botanist on the mission, but I felt bad for Alph and Charlie having to deal with her sh*t personality.
Yo, I'm sorry to bug you like this but the Olimar drawing seen in your thumbnail and in your video is something I drew and I'd like it if you could credit me or at the least remove it.
So, either that is the timeline that Olimar died and was turned into a pikmin. Or, this wraith possessed him? What if this isn't Captain Olimar at all? Maybe the wraith just copied his DNA and took on his form as its own. Maybe Olimar did die in the pikmin form after being planted. THEN, the wraith possessed him in his dead pikmin form.
I liked the video! i would love if the plasm wraith lore had an appearance in the new game in any way it can, specially if it had to do with the main plot i had a very different interpretation of the pikmin olimar we saw on the trailer, in the trailer they mention something like Putting our abilities as a (forgot the word) to the test, with the test in the screen was aparently fighting the furry oliman in a battle like the ones from the multiplayer mode where the objective is recolecting objects and money all of this made me think that maybe furry olimar is from the species that either made or originally domesticated the pikmin for the tasks we use them for in the games, maybe having this use of them be a kind of art or fight form, like martial arts or something. And it just happens that the captains arriving on the planet seem to have an scary amount of similarities with this species all of this said, perhaps this species has some history with the wraiths, or maybe just the plasm wraith in particular, making it so it somehow desires to get a hold on one of the members of this species for some reason, like understanding them or even worse, have them as a battle trophy?
In the direct the fight with pikmar is called a dandori battle which means pikmar is a dandori which seems to be a pikmin other species hybrid or olimar somehow made a pikmin clone of himself and I absolutely love the playable plasm wraith idea
the leafy guy is olimar dude he is revealed to be olimar himself in the heros hideaway, at which point the player is able to rescue and cure him. leafling olimar and moss standing next to a castaway. a close-up of olimar's Leafling form. and in one part in the story, he dead right? the pikmin carry him to the onion and he becomes the leafling :) its the bad ending of pikmin 1 (when you dont collect enough parts for the ship) and also ... LETS GOO PIKIMIN 4 OUT!!
The reason why the Plasma Wraith wasn't defeated was because we didn't have purples, which is what made the Water Wraith in Pikmin 2 take a physical form that was being hurt
Pikmin 4 could also be a parallel universe to Pikmin 1 If you don’t manage to escape the pikmin put Olimar in they’re onion and goes into the ground means that the leaf guy could definitely be olimar and in the dandori battle against him in the demo he turns the other guy also in a leaf person by putting him in the onion.
I believe that the Planet in which the pikmin live in, the atmosphere has a electromagnetic field that interferes with spacecraft made from Koppite, and Hocotarian Technologies. Also, I think another factor could be air friction, which disintegrates any object traveling at high speeds, and since the atmosphere of the planet is full of oxygen. The the ship crashing could be from the natural environment of the planet, and not some all powerful entity.
Personally in the Pikmin 4 demo when you pick up all of these leaf people it felt and became really morbid for me. If anyone recalls if you don't get all the parts for Olimar(or enough of them., At least 25)at the end of the first game he will die and be reincarnated as a Pikmin because of his loyal buddies brought him to the Onion. So I think the reason they are leaf people is because they ran out of whatever chemical they breathe in their tanks while stranded on pnf-404 and they died becoming Pikmin people hybrids. Therefore this made Pikmin 4 Way darker for me.... Reminding me as a call back to the first game. Making me extremely hype for more lore when the game completely releases.
The umibozu theory isn’t that far off but what I feel like is more accurate to olimar’s form is the bad ending from pikmin one where if you didn’t get enough ship pieces you will crash land again and olivar will get gravely injured at the dawn of death, but then the pikmin bring olimar’s weakened body (pretty sure he died) to the onion and then he sprouts as a pikmin. Another thing that backs up my point and I have to add a mandatory spoiler disclosure is that in the actual demo you can play through the first area of the game which includes a dandori battle against him which as soon as you enter you will see this leafy version of olimar’s drag a castaway into the onion and making him pikmin like aswell. Funny and somehow lines up so there you have it
I love watching these post-launch and seeing how hard they got shut down... Still a good theory! Also, spoilers: 1: While it could still be possible, i thing the presence of the foolix as well as 3 TOTAL waterwraiths in 4 disproves the wraith evolution 2: i honestly think the game would be better if the "Pikmar isn't Olimar" theory was true, but it isn't 3: to me, it seems pikmin 4 takes place in an alternate timeline or something, due to olimar's voyage logs Also, "this final boss should make you use all your pikmin types and otachi" Exept otachi was the thing that allowed me to use only purpmin, which was disappointing
