Did you know that Olimar and Louie is an anagram of Mario and Luigi? crazy. ChaseKip All music taken from Pikmin, Pikmin 2, and Pikmin 3. Animation and voiceovers done by me.
Because the Guard Satellite didn't protect Olimar from the meteor in the opening cutscene, some fans may wonder why it didn't protect him. As the Instructional manual says, Olimar was getting coffee and had put the S.S. Dolphin on autopilot beforehand. XD Just thought I'd share my Pikmin canon knowledge.
Three really creepy facts about the Plasm Wraith: 1) In its area, the Formidable Oak, every single enemy is an illusion that turns into plasm when defeated, even the harmless butterflies. The fact that it's able to create perfect replicas means it must have encountered real ones at some point. Perhaps it killed every other creature there (intentionally or not), then became so lonely that it filled the Oak with replicas. When Olimar shows up as the first other real creature its encountered, it immediately becomes attached and tries to keep him safe like its his mother, seemingly unaware that it's slowly killing him. 2) In the challenge mode mission to fight the Plasm Wraith, checking the map reveals that there's... _something else_ on the map, located where the top of the Oak would be in the story mode map. This implies that the Plasm Wraith is itself another puppet or illusion created by this other entity that's watching. 3) The pattern on the floor in the arena where you actually fight it is identical to the rock formations surrounding the Smokey Progg's Egg in the first game. No idea what this means.
Also it was confirmed or shown that the other enemy in the plasm wraith timed fight ia actually the chase sequence when you carry olimar back so maybe you did kill it but it created a perfect copy of itself to trick the crew into thinking it was done for
I’ve got a theory, what if the Plasm Wraith is replicating/replacing the life on the planet? Formidable Oak would suggest that the Plasm Wraith is slowly wiping out life and replicating itself in place, at the very least imitations of life that no longer exist, disappearing into nothing. Olimar being an unknown life form to the Plasm Wraith takes Olimar with the intention of replicating itself as Olimar, then upon returning to Hocotate, begins to assimilate the life on Olimars home world. What I’m getting at here, is the Plasm Wraith actually wiped out humanity. We’ve never gotten an explanation as to how humanity was wiped out, but given the Plasm Wraith’s presence and that it seems to assimilate life and make copies of itself might suggest that the Plasm Wraith is a world-ending inter dimensional being. Came from another dimension and began to assimilate humans and made copies of them until they were all wiped out. When we came across it in Pikmin 3, it seems the Plasm Wraith was in beginnings of another extinction event. For whatever reason it can’t successfully reproduce or replicate itself, so it’s a lonely creature surrounded by cheap imitations of life.
@@10191927Fascinating stuff! I would have to ask, though, wouldn't that imply Olimar should have seen Plasm Wraith replica humans running about when he first landed? Or are you suggesting that Plasm Wraiths have some sort of expiry date?
Louie is one of the most unsettling characters in gaming to me. He’s a literal psychopath willing to murder his friends and steal from others. He never makes any sort of meaningful interaction with anyone, and poor poor Olimar is trapped with him on a mission, sometimes in the same ship as Louie for huge periods of time.
@Harkon Takala its stated in one of Olimar's descriptions (or maybe the ship said it after you defeat it i dont remember) that Louie was unconscious for the whole fight. then in Pikmin 3 its explained that both Olimar and Louie's suits have a deep sleep mode that activates whenever they are in serious distress
I like the fact that instead of abandoning him on earth and assuming he's a "bad guy," they take him back because they legitimately do not know why he did that. That's realistic and I enjoy that.
I like to think that the Pikmin view Olimar or any crew member throughout the series as larger 'boss' pikmin with their antennas being similar to their stalks.
I think the reason why the creature loved pikmin so much is that it's an easy food source for them. Think aphids in the bug world. Easy pickings and they multiply like crazy. It's an easy buffet, a tasty snack. Pikmin are a good source for many creatures and evolved these abilities as well as their need for community to better fight off their predators.
I personally think that he is addicted to food. Not just mental addiction, but is like a full on junkie. If you look at his behavior in the series with that in mind it makes a lot of sense, as drugs like crack and opioids can wear down your mental state and moral compass.
I'd like to point something out: Oxygen is toxic to Koppaians. In Pikmin 3, their mission brought them to Earth to gather fruit and seeds to cultivate on Koppai. The plants they brought back from Earth produce oxygen.
Well, they probably have some oxygen on their planet, Earth just has a higher concentration than their bodies are used to. Oxygen can be poisonous if there's too much of it, last I checked.
Interestingly enough, if you would scientifically define a poison, oxygen would fit that definition perfectly considering how easily it makes chemical reactions with living matter. We’ve all just evolved to not only survive the high concentration of it but to be dependent on these chemical reactions to stay alive
Nintendo's theme is putting deep lore into happy games so yes, I believe that the plasm wraith will appear as a yandere school girl in Pikmin 4, vying for Olimar's affection
Sorry for the long comment. I am a Japanese Pikmin fan. It's a great video and good! I especially like the yellow Pikmin with earphones. I am impressed that you are looking at Amebozu from a Japanese perspective (I am Japanese and didn't think that much about it). I personally thought the spaceship crash was something that was happening because of the pikmin singing, so I was thinking it was based on the legend of the Sirens. But the discussion in the video fits better!
Thank you!! Your theory about the spaceship crash sounds interesting as well. It's funny that there's so much room for theories and speculation about a game that seems so simple on surface level. I guess that's the magic of Pikmin
The umibozu is also know to sink ships to specifically get to the captain. Almost like it’s obsessed with them and will chase them relentlessly, huh almost like two bosses in the Pikmin series 🤔
I was 4 when this game came out, I always found Mario and Zelda so appealing, they were my whole childhood, also other series like F-Zero, but I never got into Pikmin growing up. It just never pulled me in enough because I just didn't get it. Last week I decided to have a look into Pikmin and really give it a chance, I looked at videos on RU-vid about the series and then I saw things saying how dark and brutal the game actually is, This made me curious, So I decided to buy Pikmin 1 and ive been playing on it and can I just say, This is an amazing franchise. it really is. On my play through, not spoiling anything so everything was a surprise, When I encountered Beady Long Legs, I have never gotten such a fright out of a game to the point where I literally yelped and dropped the controller lol, after this happened, I really fell in love With this cool game. Just ordered Pikmin 3 for my Wii U, waiting on it now!
3:13 to jab-lock something, you need it to get it to fall down first and then hit it during the tiny bounce animation and you can only reset the animation up to like, four times before they get up. the Titan Dweevil wasn't the only thing Louie was hacking Edit: Also, assuming he took the Bulborb down in 4 punches, Louie has an attack that does more than 100 damage that is also capable of jab-locking. Louie should get banned
I would keep redoing my day if a single Pikmin was killed. Completed Pikmin 3 multiple times without any casualties. It really leveled up my prioritization and time management skills.
As someone who is brand new to the Pikmin series, I can really appreciate this video, helped me get up to speed. Was bored last weekend, was scrolling through the Nintendo store on our Switch and i saw Pikmin 4 had a demo download. I wasnt at all familiar with the series, the only knowledge I had was I rememebered Olimar frok playing Smash Bros. I never even knew which game Olimar came from while playing Smash Bros, just like several of the other characters that came from RPGs like Fire Emblem. I played the Pikmin 4 demo and was immediately hooked. So I went and preordered it, and meanwhile I just purchased Pikmin 3 Deluxe and started playing last night. Its definitely unlike the majority of games I play, but I needed a change of pace. Not every game has to be full of blood and guts to be enjoyable.
Pikmin games have Dark Souls tier lore. You learn a lot of little things when reading all the different notes of enemies, treasures, and even the plants (in pikmin 2 at least). Really hope 4 finishes this story arc and tells us about why Louie is the antagonist.
Theories and speculations I have for the series going forward: -Olimar may find out that one of the reasons pikmin follow him is because his suit looks almost exactly like them, therefore the pikmin think they are working hard for a diety or some sort. In return and without the pikmin learning the truth, Olimar teaches them self-defense without the need of a whistle. -Maybe a return of the piklopedia next game and the reveal of Louie's true character, not that Olimar may already be on to him.
They already know how to defend themselves without a whistle. At the start of Pikmin 2 Olimar notes that his actions may have inadvertently moved Pikmin up in the food chain since now they know how to fight back.
Especially since Pikmin 4’s protagonist seems to be a new female captain. I predict that Louie will either be an antagonist or sort of a leaching sidekick in the new game when you encounter him.
Well PIKMIN 4 has changed the lore PIKMIN 3 happens after ( or it’s a second crisis but probably the first one ) And PIKMIN 2 was a dream The lore is crazy
Ayo you better be doing Pikmin 4 cause these are good as hell and honestly I would love to see this kinda video but longer and more informational, great work man
Louie was actually knocked out when he was first brought to the ship in Pikmin 3. When he came to he thought he was kidnapped so ran away from we I think. It’s been awhile since I read Pikmin lore.
@Rognik What if theyre not animals and they are actually also plants that have changed color, made stronger skin and have evolved thanks to things like water or a high temperature living habitats. And maybe pokeballs are made out of evolved fungus of that one fungus that can control ants.
Alph:technology :).Brittany:cute pikmin :).Charlie:chance for me to become a good leader :).olimar:treasure for rocket :).Louie:LOVE THAT CHICKEN FROM POPEYS
Fun Fact: In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, one of the side stories (Olimar's Comeback.) That shooting star that the Pikmin were running towards at the end of the end credits was Olimar and Louie coming back to PNF-404 because the president of the Hocotate Fright made them go back to repair and retrieve the Hocotate Fright Steam Ship from PNF-404.
everyone as a kid was scared of submerged castle. 1. every hazard 2. the water wraith 3. treasure placements more often than not were tricky to get. (fiery bulblax anyone?)
Just replayed all of the games and re-watched this video in anticipation for pikmin 4, can't wait the demo showed a lot of promise and carried over awsome features litteraly from every game including Hey! Pikmin which caught me off guard!
Pikmin released in 2001 Pikmin 2 released in 2004, 3 years later Pikmin 3 released in 2013, 9 years after Pikmin 2 3x3=9 9x3=27 THEREFORE Pikmin 4 comes out in a year such that each sequel to the first game releases on a number of years later equal to a power of 3. In other words... 2040
