How neat that Allende wrote a take on Zorro, I had no idea. So many lovely classics and translated works to fit in this month it looks like! I'm overly spread thin lately, but wishing for more time for buddy reads to come

Thanks for another great pile of possibilities, Deea! Zorro sounds so cool! I have A Separate Peace on my TBR shelf and will be interested to hear your thoughts on it. Hmm . . . I didn't realize that it was women in translation month, but I do have a book that would count for that. I was saving it up for a selection of books on WWII but I may break down and read it in August. Lately I've been making very official TBR lists, and then totally leaving them in the dust and mood reading last-minute additions! 😋 Have a lovely week!

I'll see if I can get the tin flute from my library it looks like it's out of print but it's on amazon dispatching from the US second hand but I don't like the price tag lol. I'm a maybe for a buddyread if I can get a hold of it. I didn't know about an Allende version of Zorro, or if I did I forgot. Your WIT list sounds super.

@@Shellyish as soon as I get a couple library loans finished I am starting both Tin Flute and Zorro🤗 Hoping the humor I love in the original story is present in Allende’s because I need the levity with the heartbreak of Tin Flute😅

I’m glad to hear your thoughts on rereading East of Eden. I definitely need to reread that one. It was so impactful. A separate peace traumatized me as a young teen 😅
@@CandlewickLibrary I remember the trauma! I was much more eager for my heart to be broken back then. We’ll see how I get on with it this time 😬 East of Eden was hard also, but the hope and beauty that comes makes it worth it !
I am taking part in Women in Translation Month, I am reading Collette. It is a book of her short stories, I have read some of her stories and I enjoy them. She wrote Gigi. I bought this book a while ago and it has been sitting on my TBR, not from lack of interest it is just a huge book. This is a good reason.

@@redheadreading it still works because it is about a woman (author = woman, translator = woman, or translated work about women … that’s the way I do it anyway 🤔)
Was it The Tin Flute you were looking for a buddy reader for? I would have to request it from the library, but I don't think it would take too long. I've never read Roy, even though she's Canadian. You're call. I'm good either way.
There are copies in our system. Two of them are translated by Alan Brown, but I can't tell who the other is translated by. Did you say yours is Hannah Josephson?
