In typical Camino fashion, you started on day one saying "I'm walking alone..." and a few hours later you're already using the term "we are now walking...". Love it! Can't wait to be back in September for a second time.
Oh wow! That means so much coming from you! I love your Camino documentary and your Camino movie was something I watched that inspired me to try and capture mine. But then I thought that you were a professional videographer and how could I? All I could do is collect very amateur footage and put it together in a very amateur way. But it’s raw, real and me. So I guess this is my style and it is an honest and raw account! Thank you! Buen Camino! 💚
Beautiful memories of my first week 11 years ago. That was when I met Peter Schloss who posted this, your first week. Thank you and looking forward to more. I celebrated my 71st birthday on my first day and now memories are celebrations!
Glad you enjoyed it and what great memories you must also have of doing the Camino 11 years ago! I met Peter on Hadrian wall when I was doing a training walk for the Camino! It was so nice to bump into a pilgrim when I was getting ready to go! Buen Camino! 💚
Glad to hear that you stayed in zabaldika. I stayed there on my 2015 Camino! It was so welcoming, heart felt on the hottest day of my whole Camino. It set the bar so high and so early in my Camino that only one or two other albergues came close to being as positive an experience.
It was such a special place. Sister Mary one of the nuns said she makes herself available everyday for anyone who just wants to talk. She said she is there just to listen and as they talk and she listens, people start seeing through their issue. she was incredible! So were the hospitilaros. It’s great you also experienced it!
Congratulations, Kate, on a job well done! It's wonderful that your family was able to be with you during the first week. I am eagerly looking forward to witnessing your solo adventure! Thanks for sharing 😍👍TFS
Thank you! They take a while to edit (I’m v slow!) and has to happen at weekends. I hope to get chapter 2 out this weekend. I have been enjoying watching your Camino del Norte videos too! ☺️
Hello, Kate! We have a mutual friend in Pete Schloss, who you met on your Hadrian's Wall walk. He gave me the link to your vlog. I'm walking my 3rd or 6th camino (depends on how you're counting) from June 15th. I've enjoyed Part 1 of yours. It has stirred some memories!
Great video! I will enjoy watching your journey unfold. I was out there in 2022, and getting ready for 2025. Your video is making me feel so nostalgic for the way, the people, the ups and downs. Thank you!! 💛
Hi Kate, you have no idea what your video means to me. I remember seeing you on the way when I did the Camino last year. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to have a chat but I’m sure we shared few “buen camino” along the way! Haha I was up till 3 am and watched all your Camino related videos and your daily Camino shorts. I was so happy to see other familiar friendly faces. I was looking up Camino videos last night during bed time to help me fall asleep and I had to kick my duvet away when I saw you in my feed. I actually lost all the videos that I took on my camino which I still find devastating but I find your vlogs especially more comforting knowing you were there at the same time as I was. Can’t wait for more!! Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Jennifer! That’s great we were on the Camino at the same time! I’m so glad the Camino videos have been helpful to you and brought back some good memories! I am editing at weekends mainly so I’m a little slow in getting the content out but Im definitely working on it! There is definitely more to come. I’m also planning to do the Camino ingles in a couple of months too, so there will be more Camino videos to come after the Camino Frances 💚 Buen Camino! 💚
This is a wonderful and a great video about your pilgrim journey. I am from Canada and in October I will go on a pilgrim trip to Funchal . Madeira Portugal , Fatima Portugal and Santiago de Compostela . it’s my vacation for two weeks . I’m 62 years old.and I have a bad back . I’m going to fly directly to Santiago de Compostell, and from there, I will stay at a hotel then I will go to the cathedral and I will say my prayers I will go to Confession, Holy Mass , and that will be my pilgrim trip to, this holy place where the relics of Saint James apostles are kept.
Thank You Kate! Wonderful video that we are watching in the final week before we leave for our Camino - The excitement continues to build for us! Was this in April 2024? It seems very hot for that time of year. We start in SJPDP on May 31 and want to be prepared for the weather.
Hello, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I have 2 more videos out and am working on the next in the series. So please check out the PILGRIM playlist. This was the end of August 2023. It’s taken me a while to edit the footage! Have an amazing time! Buen Camino!
Thank you for watching! 😊I walked from 21 Aug to end of sept from SJPdP to finisterre. I think when I mention autumn it was the beginning of sept but it was colder and raining in contrast to the first week which was soooo hot! 🥵
Absolutely amazing. I recommend you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place.Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower
Hi - It depends on how far you are able to walk each day. I took 39 days to walk from St Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre. I think to Santiago 34 or 35 days is comfortable. some take longer some can finish much quicker than that! I hope that helps!
I mainly booked on the day. I would text ahead around mid morning when I had figured out how far I was going to walk. However for municipal and donotivo albergues - you just turn up.
