OMG! Thank you for showing that stitching a straight line in the ditch is not that easy. I've been trying so hard, for a few years, and I'm always off. Having you say that makes me feel so much better!

Stitch in the ditch is so much harder than it looks! My machine has an optional foot specifically made for this. It has a guide that fits in the “ditch” that helps a lot. Maybe your machine has one too. It helps a lot, but I still go out of the ditch, but I’m not that picky, so usually just leave it.

I agree with Linda Daniels, if your going to do the flip method then either hand whip stitch or do 1/8” stitch around the parameter, for it gives a much nicer finish to project.

Very cool, I love the Americana. I have found when I flip, which I learned from you, that if I stitch 1/8” all the way around it closes the opening and you cannot tell where I flipped it. I have yet to try a pillow. I’m still fairly knew at all this. Your kits are the best. I did an Americana table topper from your table runner kit.

I just found this video today, I made a placemat for a friend a few months ago of an american flag. It was just plain colors instead of your beautiful prints. I just love how yours turned out. I love your channel, and am planning to make the fence rail quilt soon!!

I would like to see you do a tutorial on the pattern "Intertwined" by cozy Quilt designs. I am making that quilt and am running into difficulty..I have found my mistakes and fixed them but would like to see how you do it..I watch ALL of your tutorials...Love them all..You are such a good teacher, so talented..I have everything you have to work with except the machine...lol...just watched the Americana placemat and pillow one and wonder if you have a kit for that..Didn't see it on your website...

i am having the a bad expirence with quilting near the ditch. my placemat tends to feed faster underneath and bunch together when i get from end to the other.

Is the dimension correct for the blue block? The side block is shorter by 4/8”. I am very careful with measuring and cutting. I always measure twice and cut once. Thank you for your help.

Yes, the block is correct when cut at 7 3/8". This is how big the 5 patchwork stripes will be (5x1 3/8 + 1/2).

I would not with the American flag especially if a Veteran is around. Big taboo to face any version of our flag face down. Other holidays or just stripes sure but never ever ever with a flag.

I like the video too, but the American flag does begin and end with a red stripe . Just needs a red stripe at the top :) Not trying to be critical or nasty .
