A pilot in JFK makes a long PA to passengers, but transmits it to ATC and other pilots by mistake!! Pilots jump right back at him with hilarious replies.

Probably because most viewers here don't work in an environment which expose them to that e-mail-blast thing. So, couldn't tell nor imagine how bad the end result is.

+MaidenAirTM that is the only way to get to some conversations. some of us here in India thought that, but were adviced against it. LiveATC briefly had some of our ports on monitoring but our laws are too well placed to let such infringement pass. even us amateurs are not in a position to legally tap the air waves without explicit prior approval from the authorities. same goes for certain remote island countries/air strips that are not on liveatc.. got to get one's own set-up
@@spock7945 Radio like ATC and police scanner is more public in the US. Civilians are allowed to access it legally, though speaking on police frequencies is prohibited outright and talking on airplane frequencies when you aren't behind the yoke is probably a bad idea despite not necessarily being illegal.
@@lsswappedcessnamajor point. receiving is not "accessing". RF transmissions are not private, if there is expectation of a private conversation it needs to be encrypted, which is why most police transmissions are trunked and encrypted.
Imagining scenario: Went on different frequency, fire truck en route. Arrives: "Hey, didn't you say engine #2?" - "Yeah, the rain already put it out, but then a lightning struck #1."
Had front row seat to similar, circa 1977, while taxiing a TA-4J Skyhawk to the high power turn-up ramp. Guy in the back seat was my immediate supervisor who I'll refer to as "Ed". Went like this: Me: "Ah, ground, Mike Bravo two-one" Ground controller [sexy-sounding young female voice]: "Two-one, ground" Me: "Ah, ground, Mike Bravo two-one, taxi Marine Line to Trim Pad Alpha" Ground: "Two-one, taxi approved, hold short runway nine" Me: "Two-one, roger" Ed, from back seat [who moves the comm switch on the throttle handle to "intecom" vice "radio": "Damn, she's got a sweet voice!" Ground: "Calling ground, SAY AGAIN?" Ed (now on intercom): "OH, ****!"
He said "it's showing a fire", not "we have a fire". The reason he asked for fire trucks to roll and to "look at it for us" is to confirm if there is, or is not a fire. If the engine was indeed on fire, with the pilots staring at the flames, the transmission would have sounded a lot different.
That's funny. You have to watch it, as keying a mic isn't unheard of. We used to carry bulky old school Motorolas at work. One of my coworkers was a really nice, older guy who liked talking to people. I knew he was into crooner type music, so I made a disc for him of Sinatra and such. Next thing I knew, I heard him singing away. He was by himself and it was obvious who it was, as he had a heavy French Canadian accent and we're on the west coast. People let him sing for a bit before they started to click.
so funny .... i like that after someones misuses the radio everyone comments on it.... happens on my work sometimes too albeit the radios there are sort of a joke between the people here... sometimes i would ask the result of a football match... or someone say channel two for partying
