Your best bet is Ebay, you can still find some good deals if you look around. The thing about the Telemark pack though is that it is very specific to its frame and I assume it would be less advantageous to swap it out with a plastic alternative. But if you do manage, you should do a video, would love to see the mods!

@@thatpackguy I'm learning on combining the good parts of a cheap day pack I bought with the good parts of a worn out old British made Karrimor. (The Chinese made ones are garbage but the Karrimor SF packs still made in the UK are very good). Most of the donkey work is done now and some valuable lessons learned the hard way. The Telemark pack will be a challenge, it's all leather shoulder straps and the like, a heavy pre WW2 design that could do with a little lightening and a lot more padding. I'll definitely consider filming the process, there's a few ways it could be done.

You might want to try to locate a cheap ALICE pack so you can unstitch the upper back padding and use it on your ruck, or potentially have a set of straps sown in place that would secure the FILBE frame to it, and could use the FILBE suspension system on it to provide the upper back padding needed for your ruck. I don't know though, I would need to see the ruck to better understand what we're working with. Have you considered making a video showcasing your project?

I haven't tried at those temperatures but the plastic is pretty flexible so I don't think it's a problem

Unfortunately I do not own the CFP-90 so I wouldn't know, but if you do please make a video on it, would love to see it :)

If you're looking to swap out the suspension system I'd go for a 1606 frame like the one in the video and molle ii shoulder pads

Just uploaded a video on this pack, so i have to redact my original reply: while the kidney pad is potentially usable it would need a strap to secure it with, the shoulder pads on the other hand are sewn onto the pack

Thank you, yeah the link is in the description, it's the Down East Inc. 1606 frame from the FILBE ruck

Cut the hoop off a ALICE frame and attach it to a MOLLE II frame. You wont be disappointed. It will allow you to adjust the ride height and standoff, with a ton of extra space for additionals. You can keep the ALICE straps on the pack, for quick detach and off-frame use. Most of all you can build it for about $40 from a wrecked ALICE frame and used MOLLE II frame.

On a medium ALICE pack it has the D-rings so i hook it onto those

@@thatpackguy yeah I've search the internet for Italian backpacks and I have yet to see one that looks anything like that I found the u-shaped one and all the other ones that you posted but I cannot find that t-shaped one

@@irmuggle yeah the T-shaped italian frames are pretty hard to come by, you'd probably have to purchase the whole pack with just to get the frame

On a rather standstill tbh. My school stopped allowed students to freely use sewing machines to work on personal projects, so my plans of enlarging my Large Alice radio pouch went bust and i'm finding a way to put a bent dei 1606 frame on the large or medium pack.. I have 3 woodland alice from the salvation army as my daily ruck now so that aint bad.
