MUNT seems reasonable from what I've heard. I'll set it up tomorrow and do some experimenting. Have you tried it with Rise Of The Triad? Timbres does an amazing job with those MIDIs.
I have not tried MUNT with ROTT specifically, but I have listened to some midi files with munt and they sound a bit off with stuff intended for General Midi. I think there might be some way to patch an actual MT-32 to be more compatible with General midi, but I don't know if that is possible with MUNT.
