What an imperfect world. Takes me back to school days, where you wish you can take the brain of nerdy girl, and put it on the hot body of that good looking cheerleader. So… How can we get the dedication, licenses, attention for theme integration of JJP, and put it on Stern machines like, John W. , X-men or Vernon. Imagine a John W. ,machine, with GUNS, with Keanu’s voice, Lance Reddick, etc. and even the sound track. Imagine X-men with uncannyc music, the voice of the characters in the call outs, profesor X- phrase…to me my X-men, maybe even the art by Jim Lee- cause we all know, there is no X-men without Jim Lee and Chris Claremont. That is what JJP would have done. Whoever does not know who Jim Lee and Chris Claremont are, do not deserve to play this machine. 😂

I played avatar at the Rocky Mountain show this past weekend, it hardly has any UV at all they cleverly colored the flippers and the flipper rubber to make it look like they were glowing but they’re not. It’s the most stern game that JJP has ever made. The one at the show had a good number of mechanical problems too

I know you guys like to give Mike from homepin a bit of stick but the fact is hes been around for a while, he sells pinballs, and he is still in buiness making and selling pinball. So objectively hes successful at what he does. I think it just grates you yanks and pushes a few trigger buttons every time he gets another game out. Hes still kickin guys gotta give him some credit.

I understand the concerns on XMen and am closenti making a decision on buying it or not but I am going to wait to play it before I make my decision.. it definitely has my curiosity but it is going to have to shoot as good as it looks. I dont mind it being a little brutal but is it so brutal that only the top players in the world are going to be abke to get through it? There were some great players on the stream and the gane was making them look like amatuers at times and that has me a little concerned about the gameplay ..well concerned enough I decided to hold off on buying it until I play it anyway

I canceled my LE due to the horrible sound package. Stern fooled me once in 2012 when I bought Wolverine LE because I loved the theme. I'm not going to make this mistake again with horrible voice talent. I was annoyed by the voice acting of all but the Wolverine dude, and he was just ok in the stream. It also looks to me like a much harder shooting game than some in my family can handle. The lighting looks so weak compared to other sterns, and Avatar's basic model looks so much better. I look forward to playing on location, and maybe I'll consider it again down the road when the code is more mature.

Xmen looks so fun, ill be waiting on near final code and play the machine at my local place but it looks like a machine id buy. Avatar looks insane but i just dont care about the IP at all.

I’m attending Pinball expo for the first time this year. I was curious about your comment about bringing headphones. I know Jersey Jack games tends to have the earphone plugs. Do most of the stern games at expo also have this option? If so, I will try to remember to bring mine. Thanks!

Hi Cary! Regarding Avatar: I got the chance to play a couple games on it last night, and I have to agree: the UV lighting is not a standout feature of the game as much as it is a "Hey, that's cool!" kinda thing. Also of note: while I was there the game designer, who was hanging out with some other pinball engineers from various companies, had to reattach the HDMI cables for the LCD screen. Apparently they had somehow come loose during regular gameplay between last Friday's release party and yesterday. Could this be a problem for many Avatars down the road? (Rhetorical question.) 🤔

Oh I absolutely don't support AI voices. Voice actors are genuine actors and if they just want to steal peoples voices to avoid paying an actor in a 7-13 grand product?? That would be an absolute no go for me. Hopefully it's either not AI or if the game really is being rushed to be shown and if they're placeholders just to show the game that could be ok. I don't know a lot about the production process but I imagine callouts come in the 11th hour in case of gameplay changes. I mean they don't typically do a lot of lip flap animating in pinball so I assume the animation team works with a script and placeholders that minor changes wouldn't kill. Mechsuit Multiball in Deadpool just has the robot voice because it was added in late for example, nothing from DP or the rest. Art for example is done much earlier and the Alien Queen, woolly mammoth, kraken and Mistress Death are still on the Premium back glass even though they were cut from the game. (There's some interview out there where it was either cut for time constraints or from a gameplay standpoint). I'm sure Stern CAN pivot and will take more of a ship it finished approach rather than a "maybe fix it in post" strategy. And that's IF these are things that are happening and not just us getting worried but it's they're definitely valid concerns. Anyways, its valid to stress about but there's been so much to stress about in the hobby lately so I'm gonna go have some fun and play pinball. Cheers Cary!
