What's the best way to control the ball in games with no inlanes like Space Station? The flippers are connected to the slingshots so capturing the ball is way more difficult as it usually triggers the slingshot sending the ball back and forth usually right into the outline.

I would try to do anything to prevent the ball to go into the slings. That means drop- and live catches have to be on point and using dead bounces. And of course shooting alot on-the-fly. Check out some of the world best players on Space Station here: pinballvideos.com/v/776

@@AbeFlips Thanks for the tips! I own a Space Station and I frequently beat those scores, but then again I play it a lot! LOL! My scores are usually between 4 million and 8 million.

@@tigheklory Don't be fooled by low tournament scores. Usually the games are set up very hard and you are not used the different flipper angles, tight sling switches, or steepness of the game. Good to hear you're doing well 💪

The thumbnail of this video doesn't really fit as it shows the ball being shot at the slingshot corner and then it bounces pretty close to the left flipper tip and then over to the right. In reality however it's deflected from the slingshot corner to the left metal ball guide, close to the flipper. That's where the ball direction is "diverted" so that it bounces over to the right flipper. And you can clearly see that in your first example on "Fire". A post pass which hits the left flipper after the slingshot corner usually goes wrong.

That is true for alot of games. I have chosen this image since it is more clear to illustrate it this way. However there are many different post pass patterns and the one I have chosen is a possibilty, also seen here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-34tsPFEhrEQ.html

@@AbeFlips Oops, indeed on the EM it bounces from left sling to left flipper and then over - sorry! That seems to work best with a pretty shallow flipper angle. Without wanting to be right (bc I'm clearly not) I'd like to mention that the ultimate MCA (Super-GAU) where the ball goes in the air and drops down the middle, can happen only in the EM-scenario (very rare). In contrary, when the ball guide is hit first, the ball doesn't bounce so much, there's zero chance to lose it. If the ball is too slow to make it to the right side, you could micro-flip it. I watched your also interesting video on that too. I don't micro-flip as also there is the slight chance of disaster. I've seen Ostermeier micro-flip it in the air and down and out. Ofc hard to argue with someone's technique who's in the top 5 if not the best overall. And no doubt he has a great ratio of success with that. Might be worthwhile for me to try that, especially on the modern, mostly small flipper gap models. My thing is, when the ball rolls or slightly jumps too slow to make it naturally to the other side, to give it a nudge when it's passing the tip, so it gets an acceleration to the right. It then can happen, that the force to the right is a bit weak and the ball micro-bounces on the right flipper, so that I don't have the smoothest shot then. It's 100% safe though.

@@Packgammon It`s all good, always nice to have conversation to grow! In the end its just two flippers and a ball. The upcoming video will be drop catches, super excited for the release, deep inside information on that one!

@@AbeFlips My pleasure, you bet! Just by our little conversation I could learn something - can't get better than that! I'm over-keen on that release especially as to me the drop catch is the most beautiful of all pinball skills. There's nothing better when a ball comes at you and when the angle is right, you can freeze it motionless on the flipper for a moment.
