I’ve started this skirt without fully reading through the pattern, maybe that’s my fault. But I got to round 2 of the colourwork and the instructions are confusing. They don’t seem to match this video, or give instructions on what the repeat is. I’m hoping I can fill in the blanks and come up with something as gorgeous as the one you made. 🙏🏽
I don’t think it’s your fault. I’m on my first attempt and came to that struggling too. The round doesn’t finish correctly with the pattern as written. I think it is supposed to go A x5, B x1, Ax7, Bx1, repeat until you reach the end of the round and finish with A x3 before the increasing, round 3. Which might mean all the rounds after need to be read with repeats in that middle part… but I don’t know yet. I think the purchasable pdf might be written better but I’m afraid to pay for it in case for some reason it isn’t any better.
Yea, why bother showing this tutorial? If she doesn't complete it, I'm so disappointed that I might have to reevaluate this channel,,, and I do think everyone else should, at least tell us up front it's not a full tutorial !!,
@helenasimpson06 I can understand that it's ridiculous. She should have been up front and told everyone from the start, if that's what the rest of her crochet tutorials are like I'll be looking else where !!!
Wonder why op is responding to some questions but not the majority having the exact same issues of stitches not adding up. Ive crocheted for many years and im not new to fair isle but this pattern doesn't work correctly. Did anyone figure it out?
Beautiful pattern! Only thing I would ask for your future videos is if you could say (in the beginning of the video) how much yarn you used and what size you're doing from your blog pattern??? Need to know how many balls to buy or dig out of my stash! :)
Hey Christa, thank you for the feedback. Instead of going through all that on the video I link to the pattern on the blog with all that information and where to get the supplies. And if you scroll down to the full written description of the video all of that is listed :)
Currently trying to work on this but may have to scrap it because I can't figure out how row 2 of fair isle color is suppose to be worked. It looks like in your video, you have color A as 7 stitches all around, but in the pattern, it's listed as A x 5, B x 1, A x 7, B x 1, A x 3. Well I just completed the round thinking it was repeating Ax7 and I ended with Bx1 instead of Ax3. Is it supposed to be alternating Ax8, Ax7 instead?
Currently working on this with a slit. I am fastening off after each round/row so that I am always working with the skirt facing the same way (not turning my work) which will hopefully keep the stitches sharp for the color work section. Just got to that part. I will let you know how it goes.
This is beautiful and my first fair isle work. In the written pattern on round 2 it has A x 5, B x 1, A x7, B x 1, and A x3. Does that mean there we alternate between 7 and 8 ssc in A between each B ssc? The video looks like there are 7 the whole way around. I’m not sure what to do between the color B ssc stitches. Thank you!
Same for me. I have 204 (large) but it doesn’t end up right. I have 5 A ssc at the beginning I and 4A scc after the last of 25 green stitches. I’ve frogged it 3 times so far!!
I working through this pattern and watching the video. Your piece looks flat while my skirt is started to form more of a dome shape (similar to working a hat in a round). Is this normal? How do I fix my crocheting to get it to be flat?
Mine started to curl too. I fixed this by doing the 2dc in one stitch more spread out and then doing a row in-between where I do DC the whole way round with no 2dc in one stitch. That seems to flatten it out.
You don't skip stitches, it's just the way the chart works out and you ignore those spaces. Charts are done that way in order to account for needing the space for increases.
