Hey Dave. That's a really big ash log. Our's all died a few years ago I sawed most of them into ties. Only a few big ones, they had some nice side boards. Brent
The Ash borer arrived here just a few years ago so the trees are still in the process of dying. There's another video of the Ash coming out that shows almost ZERO knots.
Dave thanks for the video, you did a great job, any better I would have thought I would have done it myself. nice video looks like you battled the wind , I'll be pulling my mill outside soon. any news on the sharpening, is it going alright.
I figured that since I was milling the Pine and the Ash I might as well make a video for you. So far I've sharpened about 7 blades. Been too busy to do more. I'm finding out that there's a LOT more involved in sharpening a blade than what you see on RU-vid. PLUS you don't get the "machine shop smell" of hot oil from the videos. It's a VERY messy business and I need to figure out how to keep the mess, and smell, to a minimum. Dave
@@suemoore1965 Working with blades, I need something more "tooth proof" than vinyl so I wear a padded work glove. I guess I should start wearing vinyl gloves when I dye MY hair too. The dye I use leaves my hair a nice GRAY color. Thanks Sue. See you on the next video (due out Sunday morning at 1:00. EDT
