Thanks! I just bought a sad, wilting bromeliad for a dollar at a grocery store and it has a little pineapple growing right from the middle and 3 pups at base of plant. The stem of the pineapple is brown and hard. I don’t know if I should cut the little pineapple off or wait to see if it gets a little bigger. It’s still green.
@desertplantsofavalon

Thats wonderful you have bought a Bromeliad rescue and at a dollar thats a bargain, If the pineapple is still green its best to wait a little longer until it goes more yellow before cutting it from the Mother plant, good luck with your wonderful new plant and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Thursday XXXX

Hi Paul :-D unfortunately once the Mother plant has produced a pineapple, the Mother plant dies off, but the Pineapple Top from the fruit will eventually go on to produce another pineapple, and they propagate themselves this way, so happy you enjoyed the video, and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and have a wonderful Thursday today XXXX

This video really helped. I had six pups and the top. The Mama plant hasn’t died yet. But your video helped me know that it will die eventually. So I took the top and replanted that. And now I will just wait a few years for it to grow. Will a dwarf pineapple eventually grow? Can they be eaten?

Great video! A silly question hehe My pineapple is ready for harvest.. but it has created a long stalk in the middle of it (where the baby pineapple fruit grown) All the videos I have watched no one has a stalk long like mine, the pineapples grow close to the leafs... mine wants to reach the roof! What do I do with that after I take the pineapple off? Will it grow another on the same stalk? Sorry hard to explain English not my first language :) Thanks 🙏

Me again lol, I've been trying to grow them from supermarkets, I've been doing everything you did but the 3 day drying out, its been slow, like 6 weeks or so but I think I'm getting new shoots from the centre, I'm not 100% on that as I've thought that before and it fell out. I was talking about the last video I watched about growing pineapple, and yes I need more space, my house and garden is full, I'm growing Pathos and Nanouk tricolour for my living room.
@desertplantsofavalon
@desertplantsofavalon 2 года назад
haha Graeme :-D yes space is a real issue here too, our house and garden is chock full and its even worse in Winter when we have to move some of the not so cold hardy plants into the house, we have plants overwintering on our staircase and even hanging up in our shower haha, our friends and neighbours think we are crazy, but we do what we can for the plants haha, I hope your pineapple propagation will be successful, it can be a bit hit and miss getting the pineapple tops to root but fingers crossed it will work well for you, Pathos and Nanouk tricolour are gorgeous plants, thanks so much Graeme for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic afternoon XXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon Watch Chris Trump how to JMS and try making it, its really easy and you'll be blown away at what it does to your soil and plants, use at 1 to 10 or 1 to 20 for smaller stuff maybe even start at 1 to 20 or 30 as your soil will be shocked.
