It was the Pinetop Perkins Homecoming Celebration. They were there because of him. They were coming out to the porch because he just started playing unexpectedly. I was there.
@@deeznuttz905 well if you'd spent much of your life playing with grammy-winning blues artists as I have, one tends to see a lot of people who have no idea... and thus is a problem with the blues today... less young are into it, and it's carried by a lot of us older folks. That's pretty much all I was saying.
@@pinetopperkinsfoundation thank you for clarifying! There was no description other than the title saying, "...at the store." It appeared to be the kind of situation I mentioned. I'm glad those were all fans! I have a picture of Pinetop, Buddy Guy, and me from 2010. I treasure that picture tremendously! (I'm a musician from Chicago)
One of my favorite ,if icould havehad achance to be there ,Inever leave until Pinetopstop playing ,Ilove down in my soul ,,,Hewas alegend ,good music never goes out u
Reminds me of something I saw in high school. When I was a senior we had to deliver flowers to a local nursing home. Eventually we all ended up at one room listening to a very old black gentleman singing and playing harmonica. The nurse told us his name was Napoleon Strickland and that he was a very famous blues musician who had travelled all over the world. We sat there for an hour listening to him play. He passed away about 2 months after that, but it was truly a unique experience.
i know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Jayce Hayes Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I remember buying chess records artists and always being happy when I saw Pinetop on the session credits because you knew it was gonna be good. Him and Otis Spann.
Black s deserve every musicians respect there would not be any jazz ,no country, no rock, ( CHUCK BERRY) Fats Domino no boogie woogie. When I first heard little Richard I I picked up coke bottles, until I had enough money to buy the single, thank you all Black artists for creating my life.
Great Music master, but I hate it when people flock around someone like that, with their cameras and phones destroying the moment. NOT TO MENTION THE ONES WHO HAD NO CLUE WHO HE WAS Granted it is not as bad as the kids with their phones out when a person gets hit by a bus...instead of trying to save their life, but still. Same problem, everyone wants to be the next great movie maker smh.
I recall seeing him play once in the 1990's. Think he was a guest (?) of the fabulous Thunderbirds at Antones in Austin Texas. Thank you sir for making me happy all these years.
One dark-skinned person in the whole damn video, and him the only one amongst you with a shred of talent. Never change, Mississippi. The rest of us need something to push against.
Eden Brent was in the video, pretty sure that was her keyboard. If you think she doesn't have any talent, you are very mistaken. She learned from one of Pinetop's contemporaries, Boogaloo Ames.
