This is Pinga not Lavani..... Pinga" is a ceremonial activity that is performed by Maharashtrian married women on the occasion of Mangalagaur during Ganapati Festival to welcome Goddess Gauri.....
You are right, Rachel. It was the wife and girlfriend from ‘goodwill’ dancing together. Though the wife was heartbroken, she let the girlfriend feel welcomed and loved. This was a dance of one of the ceremonies celebrated by the women from that region. Priyanka did a commendable job in this movie, though she is not one of the main leads. This video song is shows it all. If time permits, you should watch the scene where she confronts her husband, the king. The (hamara guroor cheenliya) scene is also a masterpiece of her acting. (available on RU-vid). Cheers & Love 💓
The two characters were communicating to eachother through the lyrics about marriage, relationship, divorce and love. The song features Marathi culture and a poignant festival. This movie is very poetic which infact was popular genre in Bollywood in 90s.
It's a rather very twisted movie. Makes you feel the point of view of everyone in this movie. It's as though you go in the moral dilemma. But you guys will like it. Subbed to you today.
Hey Geek family. Now that you've seen Pinga (and while it's fresh) please react to the song "Dola re" from the movie "Devdas" ASAP and comment on the similarities of both the songs. They have the same director but separated by 13 years.
Nice reaction ❤️ you should see the rest of the songs of the movie they're great 👌🏻 For Troy... it's actually not catchy yeah because one it's a folklore dance number "the pinga" I guess It's a celebration married women make to pray for the health and well-being of their husbands and for the song...the song would make much more sense if you read the lyrics because it's actually telling a story it's basically describing the relationship between the two ladies 👌🏻👌🏻
This is a fictionalized version of Historical story (Kashibai aka Priyanka Chopra & Mastani aka Deepika) never met in person as Kashibai was the wife and Mastani was the second wife of Bajirao Peshwa (Rachel would understand that no wife would meet the other woman, also it was royally not acceptable as she didn't appreciate her husband marry another woman). But Kashibai took care of Mastani's son as her own ..gave him royal training and love when Mastani died..
How come you guys haven’t reacted to the songs of this movie yet, it’s literally the one of best movie in Bollywood such a treat for the eyes. 😍🙂deewani mastani is the most popular song of this movie.
As much as I appreciate you guys putting efforts in understanding the indian culture, it seems you are too distant from it. When you are watching the songs, you have to know it is a part of a movie. So there is a story in the song as well. U need to know the directors who are known for their direction. it is not just about the clothes, dance and accessories. Goodluck.
I wonder if Rachel is aware that a Sari is simply a 6 to 9 yard length of cloth that has to be wrapped around, folded, tucked, and draped into shape. That it isn't a dress or skirt sewn together in that allows her to simply pull on or step into. There are no zippers or buttons or elastic.
Watching you guys reaction. I can only say that like father like daughter. Only the father and daughter has ensed it felt it enjoyed it! Father n daughter u have the sense of the art❤️
Rachel the Saree they were wearing here is a special saree specific to the state of Maharashtra. It is draped in a way that it looks more like pants - i.e. there is fabric in between the legs. it is also significantly longer than the other more popular saree that drapes more like a skirt. You could Google Maharashtrian saree and just saree images to see the difference for yourself.
😂 I'm totally with you Troy!!!why should he be forced to say nice things about a girly girly song!!!our boys Troy's age would give the same reaction......🤗 Love you guys as always ❤️
You guys are doing awesome work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 love to watch you all 🤩🤩🤩 Lots n Lots of Love ❤️ care 💕 respect ✊🏻 from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 Love you guys 💗 Take care 🤙🏻
Bajirao married Mastani. Polygamy was prevalent in medieval India. It's about first wife being hostile to second wife and yet welcoming her home because she is her husband's choice. Twisted, complex emotions
Pinga Means Dance (Specifically Girls) It Is A Traditional Marathi/Maharastrian Dance. Ga Pori Means Oh Girl in Marathi. Pinga Ga Pori: Dance Oh Girl. It is usually done in MangalaGaur(Ceremony Celebrating Womanhood And Keep Fast For Husband's Long Life, Praying For Happy Married Life To Goddess Annapoorna/Mangalagauri) Or Haldi Kum-Kum (Ceremony Celebrating Married Life By Womans and applying Haldi-Turmeric and Kumkum- Vermillion Powder On Forehead Symbolic Of Marriage and Praying For Their Husband's Long Life. Their Also Certain Other Games Played By Women During These Festivals. Also Fugdi an Circular Movement Act Of Two Or More People is played during these but it can be played anytime for celebrating happiness.

You don't know Indian culture n the essential plot behind the song n it's meaning so u can only judge it on the basis of ur own perception... U don't know the essence of the dance, setup, dress, jewellery........ It's easy for Indians to understand coz they r familiar with the culture.... N a knowledgeable persons opinions r counted n not of an alien person.... U r alien to us in that scence
