i preformed this wonderful piece of music years ago and it was spectacular ...I CANNNNTTTT EVVVEENNN START to imagine what this was like live with ALLL those instruments...i watched this video in awe and tried to put myself there...even watching this from home it was utterly magnificent and brought this piece of music to a different level which i never thought possible... this is what is so wonderful about the classics..you can hear music written 250 years ago and EVERY TIME it is preformed it becomes new again..no matter how many times its preformed ...it becomes new ...thank you for posting

I like how he just does "Pines of the Appian Way" and none of the other movements. He also hired an entire marching band to fortify the powerful brass parts
Everytime I hear this beautiful I always picture the mighty Roman Imperial Legions marching down the Appian Way on their way to their campaigns of conquest.... ROMA VICTOR!!!💖

Simply amazing, with all those horns. The audience must of felt the passion nd vibration of the sound rocketing through the hall. I sure wished I had the experience of this feeling. Great performance Mr Rieu to you and your peers.

If you ever get a chance to hear this work live, in a concert hall with ZERO amplification, by all means, GO! It is the only way you'll experience the beauty and power of this work, even with only the standard 6 brass players in each side balcony. We just had this with the NY Phil., Dutoit conducting, and it had twice the impact of this performance. Believe me, raw, pure acoustic music is better in a live concert than you'll ever hear at home or in such a large, amplified/mixed venue as this. Fine performance here, but put hearing this live in a concert hall on your "bucket list."
André Rieu... genius businessman and marketer, near virtuoso violinist, and pedestrian conductor. His rendition of the Appian Way from Respighi’s Pines of Rome is strangely conducted, especially the cues where it looks as though he is throwing darts. Despite this, he is able to get an amazingly rich sound from his orchestra, especially the strings. I recognize that he has a battalion of brass players surrounding the amphitheater, but how does he get such a luscious string sound, especially during the stepwise ascent halfway through the movement? Is he a genius, or is it a trick with an added hidden string section? André Rieu... I just don’t know what to think about you.
Que bello espectaculo , es tan asi que nos lleva a lo mas serca que tenemos del conocimiento en desarrollo social, politico, cultural, y de las artes , como hacernos sentir en Roma, el inolvidable Egipto , la tierra de los Sares y en si en todos los imperios que han tenido su belleza en su tiempo y momento . y no dejamos de dar un paseo sobre una alfombra magica para estar en los bellos lugares de ensueno que solo la mente los tiene por que solo ella los conoce y los hace ver reales
ha de haber sido una experiencia única de vida el haber presenciado en vivo o formado parte de los músicos de este espectáculo. lo que no entiendo es como hay personas que le dan al boton de "no me gusta"....
Alonso Armenta creó qué aunque esta súper compleja y además tiene mucha intensidad, va muy rápido, y además los timbales suenan muy fuerte, talves si el tambor orquestal y el gong hubieran sonado mas fuerte, esta seria la mas enérgica y potente interpretación de la historia pero, pues aun así es buenísima!
Daniel, respeto tu opinión y si me pusiera a mencionar todos los detalles yo creo escribiría un párrafo largo. Al haber tocado esta obra y escuchado en vivo, se lo que se siente ser parte de los ejecutantes y también lo que se siente ser parte de la audiencia, ambas son experiencias únicas. En cuanto al tempo creo que si fuera "Tan" importante unos clicks de diferencia, Respighi mismo hubiera especificado la velocidad exacta (negra=). Pero como te mencione "Respeto tu opinión"

blijf me afvragen hoe hij dat voor elkaar gekregen heeft om ruim honderd man aan te sturen zonder er naar te kijken en allemaal gelijktijdig en op zelfde toonhoogte en ritme te laten spelen, zonder dat er iemand er vanaf wijkt .
