No, they're never hot. That's why they're permitted at airsoft fields all the time. I play airsoft very often and as a sniper. I carry about 5 of these at once. Just in case I need to escape a narrow situation. Most fields won't allow anything that burns hot, such as t and t smoke bombs that require a fire fuse etc

Keep in mind Some desert style fields may still not allow these type of smoke
