Every diamond is beautiful but every jewel from God's earth is beautiful. The tiara is stunning as well as the Jade bead necklace with the pink diamond flowers.
The argyle mine is in Australia and is very different from how some poor workers are treated in other parts of the world. The Argyle mine will close soon anyway
That's a good idea, itd be like one of those NatGeo documentaries with all the giant mining equipment that the Argyle mine uses. Those miners get paid breathtakingly well.
Dear Ma'dame, Please do not stop with you'r publications of The Jewellery Editor. I would rather listen and watch your publications than politicians arguing over the next bill that's gonna take years to pass into congress and just think by then you already have publicized how many publications about jewelry?? No seriously Ma'am I just love The Jewellery Editor, and again Thank You
The fancy color diamonds (including pinks, purples, blues and yellows, etc) really are stunning. Thank you for this mini documentary. I do have one questions though: what is the name of the music that is playing. I wouldn't mind chasing down a CD. thank you.
I've asked my husband why it is I'm so fascinated by rose gold and pink diamonds when i hate pink in general. It makes no sense! But i love them. I'm such a tom-boy though!
Barbara, the don't belong to the Queen. The building they are being shown in, is located in the grounds of one of the palaces and can be hired for exhibitions such as this.
I will never understand why pink diamonds, or any pink stone, is set in gold. The pink gets diminished. Set it in white gold or platinum, similarly etc., to show off their color. Settings are pretty, but in appropriate for the stone.
darian roscoe They are being set in rose gold to enhance the rosé color of the diamond, same logic follows diamonds with a yellow tinge, and white diamonds look the best set in white gold.
It's a pity that all the output of the Argyle goes through a crusher, set to produce rather small bits. This ensures that NO LARGE PINK DIAMONDS are surviving. Anyway, this video was very informative. I'd assumed the color came from a particular contaminate. But it may be far more complicated. Color by contaminates can be replicated in the lab. But color caused by immense pressure (and the element of TIME) is something far harder to replicate.
No, they don't. Or at least they didn't, following the business decision to calibrate the crusher at that particular setting. Their primary profits come from selling diamonds for industrial uses, and that particular setting reflected the point at which all the lines intersected, so to speak, on their decision-making graph. In one interview, a company representative STATED something to the effect of, "We made the decision to...".

😒 Mining giant Rio Tinto Ltd destroyed two ancient & sacred rock shelters in the Pilbara region of Western Australia as part of an iron ore mine expansion last May. The world's biggest iron ore miner destroyed the rock shelters in Juukan Gorge, one of which showed evidence of continual human habitation dating back 46,000 years.
well the mine also sells designs to couturiers. You can look them up on Moda Operandi or 1stdibs. People prefer using pink tourmaline instead though. Why don't you check out Chaumet in France (high jewellery collection) or Wallace Chan (jewellery artist whose designs have made people cry) or The Gem Palace in India (9th generation couturiers) , they have absolutely avant garde pink diamond designs.
