PINK FLOYD "Animals" (classic album review) - BY REQUEST 

Enjoyed your review of classic album by Pink Floyd. Dogs used to get played on the radio down here in Texas.. Love the acoustic guitar playing on it. Take Care!

I personally think this is one of Floyd's best albums, I saw them in 74 and 75 when they played early versions of Sheep (Raving and Drooling) and Dogs (You Got To Be Crazy) even back then I thought they were great tracks and was surprised when they didn't appear on Wish You Were Here as they had also played Shine On Crazy Diamond. Dogs is one of my top five favourite tracks. Here in the UK sheep gets played a fair bit on some of rock channels on the radio.

The album didn't get the recognition it deserved. Outstanding satirical Statement on British politics and thr ruling classes. Up there with DSOTM and WYWH for me.

Probably my most played Floyd album ( WYWH would like a word) . Has withstood the test of time.

Hi Ian! I saw Pink Floyd's 1975 tour where they previewed the early working versions of the Animals and Wish You Were Here material. When they opened with a throbbing bass intro to "Raving and Drooling," the song that would evolve into "Sheep," I thought they were playing "One of These Days"...very different from how "Sheep" begins on the album. You're quite right about the 23rd Psalm passage in that song...I don't know why they chose to make it unintelligible. As I recall it, "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" did get a lot of FM radio play back in the day.

1:39 This point is so true, and it applies to most of their albums, including all of the big 4. People who arent fans of Floyd, or even a lot of fans themselves, dont think about Pink Floyd as an angry or bitter band, but they are, or at least Roger Waters is. Animals and The Wall in particular are wildly angry, bitter, scorned albums that feature biting commentary and downright brutal criticism and ill-wishes directed at the people who rule us, but never without a glimmer of hope. The fact that Waters was able to do all of this through actual masterful poetry instead of just rambling nonsense is what makes him the greatest lyracist of all time in my opinion. Its my absolute favorite thing about the band in general, and why I believe that picture of John Lyndon in the "I Hate Pink Floyd" shirt is the most ironic moment in Rock history because ideologically Pink Floyd was the most anti-establishment, rebellious band in the world. It's especially funny because the Sex Pistols were essentially an industry plant.

i love Dark side, but this album is really hits home for me. truly the peak of Pink Floyd. Thank you for the review 👍

Took me, literally, years to "get" this album .... not the "best" Floyd (for me) ... but I can now enjoy the 3 main songs (via the most recent mix) ... but I never / will never play the first / last "Pigs on the Wing" tracks ... just not for me .... ALTHOUGH I'd be ok with the complete track (complete with Snowy White guitar solo joining the 2 parts together) being properly available - basically as a bonus track .... it's a more acceptable tune, for me, in its fuller form ... it was, I believe, only on the 8 Track .... but you can hear it on RU-vid (last time I checked) .... What are your thoughts on this specific track? .... Thank you for a cool "snappy" (that's a good thing) video .. CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland .... p.s. after Dark Side, it's the latest re-mix of A Momentary Lapse Of Reason I go to .... works for me ... every time .... (skipping Dogs of War occasionally)
