Just taking a stab: Anyone attend this concert? Share the details! Lulu's Fantasy Show: linktr.ee/clueless_lulu John X Lulu Wicked Fun: linktr.ee/johnxlulu
I saw them in Syracuse on this tour. They turned the Carrier Dome into a surround sound oasis. The lights, sounds and set designs are what happens when you say "money is no object" and actually mean it. You should try listening either on a good stereo or with a nice set of headphones.
I was there, Earl's Court, London, 1994 ... I was 10 rows back from the stage & right in front of David Gilmore the whole time ... BLOODY AWESOME !!!!!!!!
That song "Wasn't the finale" for the concert. Every song in this entire concert is that amazing! When you go to a Pink Floyd concert you definitely don't want to go with your eyes closed!! Try either the song "Sorrow" or "High Hopes" from the same 94 pulse concert and you'll see! "Run Like Hell" is the final song in the concert!!
I was at this concert and although I was in my 40s at the time I don't mind admitting that I cried almost the whole way through. The atmosphere and the sound envelope you completely.
I was lucky enough to be at this concert. My memories are noone spoke on the way home for hours, the first thing anyone said was "what the hell did we just see?" :)
Are you guys sharing headphones, really? Sharing headphones listening to Pink Floyd,... say it ain't so! There are sooo many things going on in Pink Floyd music, if you're gonna share headphones you might as well not even listen to them! This isn't the Bangles you're listening to. I'll give you a like regardless, you two are pleasant to watch and listen to.
Just look through the comments - do you see any response or participation by the hosts? Do they even read the comments? They have 150k subs and don't care what people are saying.
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
“Comfortably Numb” - “Sorrow” - “On The Turning Away” -"Time" - "Money"- “Another Brick In The Wall” - “Keep Talking” - “High Hopes” - “Great Gig In The Sky” - “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” - “Learning To Fly” - “Coming Back To Life” - “Dogs Of War” - “Take It Back” - “What Do You Want From Me” - “Run Like Hell” - “HEY YOU” - Pink Floyd- David Gilmour Guitar Solos I have seen performed Live in 4 concerts. “The Master Of The Stratocaster”
I didn't attend this one but did see them in Canada in a soccer stadium. unbelievable how you get so emerged in the music and get taken on a totally amazing journey
I went to this concert at Tampa Stadium with 11,500 other people. Watching it here brings back some incredible memories of being there. It was the best concert of my life...all 3-1/2 hours of it!
I have seen this video hundreds of times and without fail it always gives me chills and goosebumps and brings a smile to my face. The sound quality of this concert is amazingly good....too bad each of you listen with a single AirPod....next time try listening with a decent wired headphone....the sound is sublime.
This is my first time on your channel and I enjoyed your reaction, but I need to agree with many fellow commenters that when listening to Pink Floyd you each need your own set of headphones, seriously!! Also, it would have been nice, since you knew the song already Master Lee, to hear more of what Lulu thought! Once you have your shiny new headphones you must listen and react to each song in order on Pink Floyd's amazing album "Dark Side of the Moon"! Best wishes to both of you!!
You actually got what the song was about at the beginning, it's him talking to his doctor, the group singing together is the doctor, David Gilmour singing solo is the patient
I was at that concert in london 1994 i am now 74 years old and it still give.s me shivers i would love to take everybody back to that night and feel what felt then and still do
My husband said if you have to go under general anesthesia. This song this version is the song you should be listening to. It's what he asked to hear the last couple times he had to go under.
My dad witnessed this musical miracle at Earls court in London 1994 i was only 10 years old at the time, when he got home a few days later he introduced me to Pink Floyd and ever since i've always loved this band. To this day if anyone asks him what's the best thing that ever happened to him he will refer to this concert. I showed him this vid a few years back he sat in his armchair and cried with a smile. He turned to me and said you best play this exact solo at my funeral when I'm being lowered into the ground 😂
Another song you should do is the Pulse version of Sorrow. Has some of the same feel as this on, and the solo is on par as being as great as this one. I honestly can't say which one is my favorite
I was there and they blasted this out through their quadraphonic sound system powerful enough for an Olympic sized stadium. Out of body body experience for many that night. Great reaction and accurate description of what the song is about.
I was fortunate to have seen this performed live 5yrs prior to this , equally as incredible. Check out Run like Hell live ( Pulse recording ), it's in the Guinness book of records
What's the song about? Well first of all the context is the song is on a theatrical album performance that's kind of like a play. They actually made a movie out of it. It's called The Wall. The wall is about the life of the main character. He's a rock star, who's in the middle of a break up with his wife and he's remembering his father who was killed in the service in world war 2. He's very depressed and he's having a mental break down. The movies pretty much about the wall that he built around him self to prevent being damaged.
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.
Love and respect to both of you. You are both so beautiful. It's a loving world with a small percentage of haters. Everywhere you might roam, there will be a few truly bright stars who stand out and write/record/sing/paint/draw really amazing things. From your corner of earth to mine and all others, keep exploring. This is your time on earth. Expand yourself openly and let the chips fall where they may. I will be here as you share your experiences with the rest of us. - Your fan.
What a great reaction to Floyd, been listening to them since the seventies (yes I'm that old lol). Would love to see your reaction to 'Steve Vai Incredible “Whispering A Prayer“ New York 2016' If you do you will notice that 90%+ of the guitar is played without strumming a cord. He can bring a note back from the dead and hold it for eternity he's that good. Much love from the far north of New Zealand ❤
I have seen Floyd twice. Let me put it this way. I have seen way too many concerts. Floyd....is in another universe live. It is a spiritual experience.
he is correct i have sung songs that were totally wrong ,what seems to hit every person is the music and over time or you find the lyrics to the song you get to know the true meaning of the song that being played.
Thanks for doing this video. This was back when music was made by true musicians and artists. The stuff out there now has now soul or heart. Its all electronic noise made on a computer. Young people today I feel so bad for because they really have no real music to listen to. I was born in the 50s and growing up in the 60s and 70s I went to hundreds of concerts. In my 50s I roadied and was a guitar tech for a band and saw many lesser known bands but there is nothing like live music. Support live music venues in your area and support local musicians.
90% of people listing to comfortably numb are quite sure what it means. They’ve listened to it a million times. I noticed this video has 5X more views than most of your videos. Telling?!?!🤔❤
A little story for you. So, one day as I was driving along to a luxurious restaurant that I was taking a beautiful woman on our first date, I played this song for her. But after listening to it, she turned to me with a bewildered look and asked, "You actually like that song?" That is when I slowly pulled over to the side of the road and came to a stop. I took a deep breath. I gently grabbed my door handle and opened my door. I made my way over to her side of the vehicle and kindly opened her door for her. I then nicely said, "Peace Out Girl!!!" I'm still single to this day. 🤔
If you want to see a really good sample of David Gilmour's playing, Watch the 50th Anniversary of fender guitar. He has to be the best example of what you can do on a fender.
I know this song only because it was played in The Departed. Crazy coincidence: just YESTERDAY I clicked on a Go's Go's video called "Our Lips are Sealed" and finally realized what they were saying all along - 40 years later! But yeah, I think you're referring to the Go Go's! 🤣
Not to nitpick, but Our Lips Are Sealed is by the GoGo's. Another all girl band from the same era. It may have come out on Belinda, the GoGo's lead singer's solo stint.
Well the truth is Mr. Lee. Is Radio Stations in parts of the U. S. Threatened to not play this song. Because back in 1981 Everyone that was doing Heroine including myself knew what the meaning of this song meant. If you inject Heroine of course you're going to feel a pin prick. But when you do it you're going to feel a little sick. Then when that passes you're ready to go. The wall was a film. If you watch it you'll understand. The record label I do believe told Roger that he had to come up with an alternate meaning so radio stations would not just play this song but a lot of them. You should understand that back in 81 it was a Music Drug Culture. But we've tried to change the culture by hiding the truth to keep present day kids off dope and buy albums. I'm 61 years old and I've been clean for over 30 years. I've loved Pink Floyd all of my life. Hello from Orlando, Florida. 😜🤔🐊🌞🌴😎
First timer here. Enjoyed your reaction. I always thought the gist of the song was the loss of youthful optimism and becoming numb to the disappointments of life, with the possible aid of drugs & alcohol. It was inspired by Waters' illness, but it's not really about that IMO. It also helps to view it in the context of The Wall album/movie as a whole. "When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown The dream is gone I have become comfortably numb" Also, Our Lips Are Sealed is a GoGos song ; )
I enjoyed watching you two experience this LIVE MASTERPIECE, and you really need to do Sorrow and run like he'll next, and soon. However a correction is warranted. At the end you were talking about the concert with the "bangles" and how the audience got the lyrics wrong to the song "our lips are sealed" that song was actually by another all girl group "the go-go's"
You need to understand Australian Humour, we deliberately sometimes change lyrics to suit ourselves. Our Lips are Sealed (was when the band was the GO GOs).@ Festival Hall Melbourne, most of the crowd were singing our version of the lyrics. Try finding "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" : The Angels Live Melbourne 1988. it was originally about the death of a friend - listen to the audience response to the question as sung by the band. In the end they promoted it with t-shirt sales!! John - Melbourne.
Just a thought…instead of being all dewy eyed and star crossed try watching The Wall in the first place to give you an idea of the song. It’s not necessarily a comfortable place to think about.
