Why can't my generation (i'm 18) have musicians like this. I find myself absorbed in bands like Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Clapton, and the Eagles, that were well before my time. The level of talent and thought that goes into those songs is unbelievable. I'm not saying today's music isn't good, but it is absolutely no rival to what music was in the 70s and 80s.
@kubinka879
@kubinka879 4 года назад
You have these musicians, they are on CD’s, streaming and the radio. At 18 you have your whole music life ahead of you. I was lucky to be born on 1951, I have heard the the best and sometimes the worst. From the Beatles, the Stones, Led Zep, Frank Zappa, to the Clash, to Queen and today I am an Adele fan. Dig into the 60’s and work your way forward to date. And enjoy the journey.

I often wonder, if the musical geniuses , that might be out there, suffer from the commercialization of music. It's driven by corporations who look at books, vs. the old timers who love music . I have seen many excellent suggestions, for your musical journey. I would add Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, and Tom Petty to the mix . And listen to old school R and B . No way I can list them all. Temptations, Four Tops , Smokey Robinson,... The music just speaks to you . Enjoy the journey, as we have !

I hope you won't mind my saying this: The expressions on your face as you encountered this masterpiece were just beautiful, a fitting reflection of the sublimity and emotional impact of the music. It blessed me to see someone so young so clearly touched, moved, swept away by one of the classics of my high school days: Watters and Gilmour and the phenomenon that is Pink Floyd. Gilmour in particular goes to the heart with the unique, soulful quality of his voice and his approach on the electric guitar. There have been and are many fantastic soloists on that instrument in rock and jazz. But no other guitarist I've ever heard--no one--can tell a story that tears my heart out like David Gilmour can.

I've listened to this song countless times & it hits me too, just there, every single time. That, at 04:58 was a beautiful youtube moment, one that I'll remember. When a piece of music hits somebody like that, it builds all kinds of bridges. I'm a white bloke in the UK but, right at that moment, we connected in a weird & wonderful youtube way. Different backgrounds, very different ages, different continents, different skin colours, different genders and yet. a 'shared' moment, all because of a piece of music. Maybe I'm just a wee bit stoned......But the world needs more of this right now... It's a great metaphor for fighting back against this horrific political climate, that we find ourselves in right now. YNWA.

Just before the 5 minute mark, it’s quite visible where you made the emotional connection in a big way. Feels awesome, doesn’t it? Not many groups can do this with a great deal of their music. Pink Floyd is one of those groups and I can confidently say that there will probably never be another group that will come together with such otherworldly musical chemistry. That first solo grabs people that are hearing Pink Floyd for first time right by the heart strings. David didn’t just play the guitar. Rather, he communicated the specific emotion he wanted you to feel and that communication is simply undeniable. Amazing actually. When you match the extraordinary composition with the lyrical poetry these folks assembled, then listen to that spiritual sounding guitar solo, it sends that emotional arrow deep every time. There is a very good reason solo #1 and #2 in this song are known to be 2 of the best of all time primarily for the reason that they elicit such an emotional response. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

I saw lots of people reacting on this song and you are the only one to apparently understand this music. Your real tears proove it ! You had 4 reactions : first when you heard the beginning atmosphere, second when you heard violins, third when you heard the first guitar solo and fourth when you heard the scream. I think this song talk to you like it talk to me 💚💚💚

Hearing this again after a long break, it's so apparent that neither Gilmour nor Waters ever reached these heights again, once their collaborations ended. Such an emotional song can only come from the tearing synergy between these two ideologically and spiritually opposed creative minds. This song is a perfect example of what comes from such an antagonistic synergy. The dark lyrics combined with the soaring anger and defiance of the chorus and the guitar solo - well, this will probably never be equalled.

It was a thing of beauty watching you being drawn into this amazing song. This band will go down in history as the most profound group of all time. Their music history dates from the late '60s to the present. I bought one of the first Darkside of the Moon albums sold in the US. Just before I was drafted during the Viet Nam war, and they are still with me.

Hey Girl! Just found you and had to say I too was blown away by this version of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" video. I never listened to them when I was young, but now, here I am approaching 73 years and have fallen in love with their sound and showmanship! I just can't get enough of this wonderful group!

Hi- just came across this video, and it made my heart feel good to see tears running down your face. The history and depth of the Floyd/Gilmour performances cannot be overstated. I've seen this video, heard the various Comfortably Numb versions/solos hundreds (thousands?) of times, and it still, STILL, makes me feel weepy and emotional. Thank you for sharing this moment!

45plus years later, this song still brings chills and usually tears. You MUST listen to the original album cut...as well as the whole album. Over the years their performance of this song has changed..to appease time and audiences..also David Gilmore has lived a lifetime now, and his playing reflects that emotion. But the original raw uncommercialized version is so different than all the others.. All my love..heres to a peaceful new year.

As good as David does it, it is Rogers' song. Rogers' voice is important for songs off of this album. I saw The Wall in 1980 and 2012. About Face in 84, On an Island in 06, Rattle that Lock in 16. Us and Them in 17, Dark Side in 09, Pros and Cons in 83-4. Peace Man!

@@jonathansmith3742 Yes, Roger basically wrote the whole album, truly a lyrical genius. A shame that the squabbles kept the two apart. However, it is Gilmore that plays the solos and emitts such an emotional response from listeners..especially those that only are enjoying the music & don t take the time to learn the history. Have a peaceful new year, my fellow Floyd fan!

David Gilmore could elicit so much emotion and soul from his guitar that it leaves his audience in breathless amazement. Pink Floyd is a life altering experience. The vast majority of reactors have the same reaction that you did to Pink Floyd. I highly recommend that you listen to “The Great Gig In the Sky” from the Dark Side Of the Moon album. Actually that album is one continuous rock opera that tells the story of one of the founding members of the band, Sid Barrett. Sid suffered from a total psychological melt down and went insane.

I'm hitting this one late. This performance, from 2016, was performed in the ancient arena of Pompeii outside of Naples. Pink Floyd played there back in the early 70s but no audience. Was just filmed. But this performance had a crowd. First time in over 2000 years there was an event in this arena in front of a live crowd. Mind blowing and a mind blowing concert. As David's performances always are. I love your reaction. If I had to pick one song for the rest of my life, this one would be it. NO matter how many times I hear it I get chills...
