Pink Floyd has always paralleled the Beatles to me. Roger Waters is the John Lennon and David Gilmore is the Paul McCartney. Roger seems to be extremely dramatic, very political, Dominant, and hyper intelligent to the point of arrogance etc... and David Gilmore seems like the more grounded, straight forward, and more Musically and emotionally empathetic. After Wish You Were Here, you could see the band becoming more individualistic, much like what happened to the Beatles. Animals feels like the White Album, in that half of the Album was led by David and the other By Roger. The Wall seemed the same, except that Roger was leading 75% of it. By the time we get to Final Cut, it basically feels like a Roger Waters solo record. This album is one of the most polarizing of the Pink Floyd catalogue. A lot of fans write if off as leftovers from The Wall, kind of like Led Zeppelin's Coda record, but I've always really like it. I'm a huge fan of Roger's music in general so I don't mind that it sounds like his solo albums. It also has some of David's greatest guitar solos on it. The title would also foreshadow that this was Roger's final album with the band, making the album feel even more like a melancholic encore of one of the greatest bands of the 70's.
