Pink Floyd visited La Carrera Panamericana 1992, an automobile race. David Gilmour and Nick Mason both competed in the race. Here is a part of the soundtrack to the movie. And also, there is a bunch of classic cars in the video
I did the Carrera (as a mechanic/car builder) in 1989 with a 1954 Jaguar XK-120M. We stayed pretty original, right down to the 4 wheel drum brakes. I can't believe it was 20 years ago. Then again, I'm not sure I'd survive the adventure now!
Some people just don't GET the lyrics. Pink Floyd's lyrics are LIGHT YEARS away from the trash that passes for music nowadays. The lyrics and the music are poetic and musical genius...no comparison to anyone.
"I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice Back to the future, gotta slow up for the present I'm fast, they can't get past my past How they propose to deal with my perfect present? When I unwrap "The Gift & the Curse" in one session Ain't no livin person can test him Only two restin in heaven can be mentioned in the same breath as him"- S. Carter
@JoeChrisMorris Many of the songs are from "A Momentary Lapse of Reason". The video was released as a documentary, but was very much a marketing failure, and has become an obscurity...which makes it sought out by die-hard fans and therefore, a bit valuable. Ironic, eh ?
I met Gimloure and Roger Daltrey in 1992 in Cali Colombia...there was this poorly organized concert and there were only like 100 people who showed up. I felt bad for Gimlore he was very upset I lost all the pictures I took and nobody believes me when I say he was in Cali in 1992...well now I have some kind of proof :)
Even the 'boring' stuff is sheer genius. But then, I can't say anything bad about Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and everyone else ever connected with this legendary phenomenon...notice I didn't just call them 'a band'. To do so would be disrespectful.
I dont think its made it to dvd OR cd, curiously.. Very interesting stuff - as obscure as some of Rogers (Music From the Body) and Syds (Opel) material to the typical Floyd head!
djkalteraphine, you're crazy. The final cut has some great songs, some mediocre boring stuff too, but nothing worse than this. And it's better than amlor in my opinion
And of course the music sounds like Phil Collins at his worst. Or maybe you like Phil Collins? And I don't want to make anyone angry, if you like this song keep just liking it
"not now john" from final cut is great! as well as "post war dream", "two suns in the sunset", and a fistful of others, is just also you can't compare, the final cut is totally waters, and one slip is made up from gilmour the the guys, it's totally different style
Dude, C'mon! Do not compare P. C.'s music with this...! I hate Collins for what he did with Genesis..., solo, I don't care. But this song it's not that bad at all...I would even say it's good for those years. You've got to remember: these were the 80's: everybody was going for the money. In other words: MTV and Reagan eras....: "Greed is Good. Greed is right. Greed works..."(Gordon Gecco in the Movie "Wall Street")
