I wanted to argue and then I thought about it some more, watched longer, and sad f*ck it you are right. Damn, I wish I could time travel and see them live.
You know you're absolutely right this is the number one band on the planet in their day.. because they tipped it on its axis the furthest possible.. and they knew that dark side of the Moon would make them Uber gold parachute rich.. even though at the time Capitol records had their apprehensiveness.. thinking that dark side of the Moon would be a one-off 6th month number one chart they didn't expect it to be up there for 30 years or better.. it made the band in all their efforts and the rest of their lives light as a feather never anything more to worry about ever.. and all it took to write that book was a 30-day trip to a small farm
Great notice, thanks for spotlighting such a fleeting moment. Really, those almost seemingly insignificant interactions are the threads that sew times together. Even though they don't get along so well, it's simply and sadly ego from what I've gathered. Nothing is that simple though, and while remaining alive and musical icons, should get past it and just do the f#@&!N6 tour. In honor of Richard Wright RIP. Come on, Roger. If you hear this, call me and we'll talk about it. Was good to see you again in '22, wish you were here. C.
@MK, yes and it's really sad what David's petty wife Polly tweeted about Roger. Really hateful stuff including "lip syncer" How low can you get? Oh and BTW, David condoned it.
@MK Definitely NOT live when he was "singing" Thin ice when I saw him. I was close enough to not have to look at the screen so it was more than obvious.
It's FANTASTIC when cinematographers have amazing skills and instincts. I'm so grateful for all of the extreme close up shots of the band performing and speaking. And THANK YOU SO MUCH to the person who posted this rare footage.
@@planomathandscience Dude, he gets that, and he digs it, which is why he's calling it out as great. And it IS spesh; it shows some fucking cool footage of Pink Floyd.
Pfft. All you women do is objectify men....🤪 Jk but that's funny my ex when I was waaaaay younger used to drool over him too. I deserved it for turning her on. And then introducing her to Floyd! Ratta tat tssss - I'm here all week!
I had the great pleasure in attending the concert in Germany in 1971. It seems a long time ago. It was the most remarkable and memorable moment of my rock 'n roll life.
Yes, this is definitely a great performance! I wish I could have been there to see them perform live, also! However, I did get the opportunity to see Pink Floyd in concert in June of 1977 in Louisville, KY which was part of their Animals tour and it was also a very memorable and great performance!
@@frankalbert891 Pink Floyd as a band around Animals tour were quite awesome in creativity and togetherness as professional musicians. But then again, I think from start to finish they have always been the world best ever. Can't imagine life without Pink Floyd!
It was always thought that Waters was tone deaf and needed either Gilmour or Wright to fine tune his bass. I saw Pink Floyd on twenty occasions and that happened every time. This was in the days before digital tuners and so you had to trust your ears. I play bass guitar and have a similar problem. I can tune my guitar until it is more or less there but the fine tuning I have to rely on my digital tuner.
@@johnbaxter5150those frequencies are a lot harder for me to hear when it comes to tuning as well. Tuning a guitar by ear only takes a moment, bass on the other hand.... a nightmare without a tuner.
@@deathmetalpotato not true . dave played on one of these days . name another song DG played bass on . have some respect for roger . there was four guys in this band .
Not sure but . The skill David has to find the best note at the best moment when improvising, also how he has a limited vocal range but explore it so well and sing always in tune. I sometimes wonder if he has perfect pitch. This detail tuning the bass on the fly... Seems to be an extra clue to that.
Excellent live footage. I love watching their older shows. I can watch/listen to them day and night and never get tired. I’m a Floydian for 50 years and love them just as much today.
Fascinating to watch the interview at the end because they are all so young and they admit they don't really know what they want to do next but have a vague idea it will be more theatrical....little do they all know at that stage that greatest theatrical writer possibly in history is sitting next to them in Roger Waters.
It’s amazing some of the footage that’s coming out in hd and 4k from 70s performances of some of my favourite bands. The Genesis bataclan show, this Pink Floyd footage and some of the VDGG , Yes and Gentle giant stuff is superb.
Bellissimi filmati di questa band incredibile quando erano un gruppo coeso tutti insieme.. Musica spaziale 🤩 e anche abbinata alla classica.. Inarrivabili Pink Floyd!!!

16:14 - David "it's quite a battle really" 16:23 - Roger "everyone has the power of veto in the band...almost" hahaha that is funny Mr Waters !!! This band were doomed from the start. Thank god we got what we did though ✌️❤️
@@coldacre That’s so true! Their name is known all over the planet, and their music is pure genius… That their music is still available on the shelves of all music stores, says something…
CONCORDO AL MILIARDO. IO SONO UNA SUPER FAN SOPRATTUTTO DI ROGER WATERS, LA MENTE, IL CARISMA E LA DETERMINAZIONE CHE LO HANNO RESO UNICO, INIMITABILE, INFATTI È STATO DEFINITO DA TUTTA LA CRITICA MUSICALE MONDIALE............... IL MIGLIORE IN ASSOLUTO MUSICISTA E COMPOSITORE DEL SECONDO NOVECENTO.
Video molto interessante. Una band che fatto la storia della musica. Un suono che non passerà mai di moda, potente e particolarmente suggestivo. Grazie.
Vedo dopo tanto tempo questo filmato e mi accorgo che questo gruppo mi affascina sempre più e pensare che il bello doveva ancora arrivare , credo che in quel periodo qualcosa di The dark side of the moon era già nella mente di Waters.Grazie a chi lo ha pubblicato.
Pink Floyd, the world's best super-band ever, only Led Zepelin came close. at their full powers, with Rick Dave, Nick and Roger on the lineup they just have no match, too much talent, its an overkill... will love them all forever! RIP Syd and Rick!
Their music was so surrealistic going into the depths of the mind and the difference between sanity and the insane never taking a breadth to look back.
What a great yet short grouping of songs, vintage Floyd, plus so wonderful to see the 4 at the end talking about themselves with no animosity, looking back and looking forward, standing on the precipice of superstardom. Also, it has such great sound! Much of what I come across has such poor sound quality. Really wish this had been much longer. Thanks so much for posting it!!

Wow a lot to unpack in this video. The interview at the end is fascinating. Sounds like they were discussing Meddle being almost complete. You’d almost think they were in their Man in the Journey stage but with Meddle almost complete they were basically reaching their fullest potential if you consider Echoes their best
That scream during "Eugene" has still the power to scare the hell out of me like the first time i heard it 30 years ago. Their music was so dark and intense and very particular in early 70s. I have grown up with them .
Some of the coolest music I've Heard real entertaining and inspiring along with being placed in Germany and France gots some real cool vibes and architecture the other kids were watching Tom and Jerry or the Flintstones I was watching this
I think their studio albums are the best in the classic period from Meddle to the Wall but their live sound was the best at this time. Just listen to Live at Pompeii or this. I would argue it's at the same level as even their best albums
Early Pink Floyd vs. Original Pink Floyd vs Dark Side Pink Floyd....etc,, irregardless-- all stunningly original and truly talented bands. These performances are bone chilling on so many levels-- not the least being the venues.
There is no such word "irregardless"".... There are words like irregular, irrelevance, irrelevant, etc... but think about that word because regardless is the exact same thing or idea you're trying to get across. It's a common mistake. Just think about the definition you yourself would give to the word irregardless and you will see that it is the exact same definition that you get for regardless. Thanks for taking up five or ten minutes of my time as I lead a very lonely life
@zigmonger6646 The ol zigmeister says ' not on my watch you dont'. Well zigfreid my boy after about 3+ seconds of investigative journalism I've come to the conclusion that I'm gonna give karen a pass. Firstly, Based on her last name and a bit of genealogy footwork I've come to the conclusion she may have family ties to the temperate foothills of the Italian Alps, where prominent, world renowned vineyards are farmed and enjoyed. Conclusion: She's partial to the vino. I posit that one evening whilst imbibing a bit too much she stumbled upon this video and, in a foggy stupor, decided to regale the RU-vid community with what was, in her mind, a flowing rainbow of dancing verbiage, undulating through the synapse, releasing a waterfall of dopamine to the would be reader. But in fact it was word vomit. Unbeknownst to her, the watchful eye and stickler for the meaning of the almighty word, zigmonger, lay in wait. Locked and loaded, ready to right the heinous, the reviled, the would be wordsmiths, he pounced. Indeed - all heroes do not wear capes. Conclusion: Whilst falling short on her attempt to enter the halls of literature's finest, Karen is in fact, a true fan of Pink Floyd, and should be thoroughly and without prejudice, forgiven her faux pas. Good day sir and PEACE!
Actually prog, which was called Art Rock at the time was more commercial than folks like to think. How could they have lived those rock star lives if they weren't raking in the bucks from album and ticket sales?
Right?!?! And I have wondered that too as it seems I have rarely been confident or comfortable in my own skin as he appears to be. And he seems so unassuming which is all the more endearing.
Don't know but I hope by now that he realized at least that he's been a thief and a quiet greedy one.. like the fact that so many people treats pink floyd as if they were Gilmour's creature says all.. he was just a substitute, a good one, no doubt, but still.. and why keepin the frickin name? even after Waters had left? i know why.. oh i know.. cause he's greedy.. and a thief. i like many things he did as a musician but i think he sucks as a human being.
@@johnentwistle952Thief??? Roger quit, why quit the hole band when one leaves? The mayority kept the name as usual! Look at the Beatles after John, The WHO after Keith Moon, Marillion after Fish, ACDC after Bon Scott and Malcolm, Black Sabbath after Tony Iommi, Ozzy, Dio, Ian Gillian and Cozy Powell, Deep Purple after Richi Blackmore, David Coverdale, John Lord and Steve Morse, especially golden changers Iron Maiden after Terry Rance, Sullivan, Ron Matthews and Paul Day and after and before Bruce (after =Paul Dianno) and many more nnewcomers Like the Icons Murray and Adrian Smith, Pantera after Dimebag Darrell, Metallica after Cliff Burton, Dave Mustaine and Jason Newstedt, RHCP after Hillel Slovak and after and before John Frusciante, Queen after Freddy, Genesis after Peter Gabriel, even Floyd themselfes after Syd, so whats your point?
