The final Gilmour solo on this song is so aggressive. So full of rage and raw emotion. No other guitarist can get even close to that.

@@andremarques1154 as angry as Gilmour ever sounded. Perfectly interpreting the anger inWaters' words. Said it before and I'll say it again. The emotion that pours from Gilmours fingers are as important and meaningful as any lyric Roger could ever write.

You are giving him waaaay too much credit. Steve Howe could do this song. However, Gilmour couldn't do YES. Seen them both in concert many times. PF music sounds a lot like the song before. But I do think this song is one of their best. The thing is, in concert, they MUST have visuals to keep your brain entertained, because watching them play is as boring as watching the Grateful Dead. I've taken PF fans (always got free tickets) and once, their "biggest fan" fell asleep. With Yes, it is more fantastical (lol) just watching them do their craft.

This song is so amazing. If you listen to it with headphones, you can notice that there are no silences. There's always at least a faint sound in the back that keeps the song together. It's simply amazing. Only one bad thing: you can't compare politicians with pigs, it' so unfair to those animals.

Something these 4 guys did well, was leave space for each other - the keyboard never overruns the bass, the bass never ovveruns the guitar, the guitar always leaves room for the vocal to shine, and one instrument will leave room for the next to accentuate the feeling. Little wonder people listen to FLoyd the first time and think "wow, I've been missing something significant here..."

I only really started listening to Floyd about 13 years ago,I am about to reach 60 yrs old. I've never heard a band like them. Watching your reactions looks to me like they are making you go into the mental state that they were in when they were making these tracks. His album "Frampton Comes Alive" was one of the highest selling albums of all time....a track called "Do You Feel Like I Do " has a voicebox guitar solo that will blow your socks off ! - Incidentally - Joe Walsh also is famous for using a voicebox.....It's a tube that goes into your mouth in front of the mic & the tube is connected to a small box that is an amp with a tiny funnel the other end of the tube fits on. Pigs= corrupt politicians, Dogs= corporates, Sheep = rest of us. BTW, the pig above Battersea Power Station is apparently called 'Archie'. It was an inflated balloon flown on a wire which snapped & the pig floated away!. They got it back though when it was found deflated in a field but it did represent a risk to aircraft!. When The Simpsons movie opened in London, as a PR stunt, they flew 'Spiderpig' above the station (you have to see the movie to get that one!).

Boys...listen carefully...David Gilmour and I have been friends for over 30 yrs. Most of the lyrics come from his wife Polly. I know how much you love this music. .....but imagine how it was for me and people of my generation when we heard this for the first time.... some people NEVER recovered from it......spent their whole life walking around in magical bewilderment...that is the impact it had. They are musical geniuses. One of England"s finest. It is a kind of majesty. Another piece of brilliance is Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts ( essential listening ) and John Martyn ( The whole Solid Air album ). I am delighted you have thrown off the shackle of Rap so beloved of your generation....it is not necessary to Smack Youse Bitch up and Shoot some Nigga in the head.....you catch my drift. Follow my suggestions and you will not be disappointed. Good luck..., and well done........

Yes spot on. My girlfriend at the time bought me the album. When your ear doesn't recognize sounds your natural instinct kicks in. I was a huge fan of PF but listening to Animals was hard work. She kept playing it and then suddenly I was hooked. I've listened to this album 100s of times. There's always something else my ear picks up.

I remember one time I was traveling from one city to another by bus, in Argentina, I was playing the whole Animals album with my earphones on and everything, having quite a trip, and coincidentally when this song was playing I looked out the window and there was a track full of death pigs, that was so weird and amazing at the same time, the song plus the pig sounds while looking at the death pigs bodies, oof it totally gave the experience a whole new vibe, I mean what are the odds? That was crazy!!

David Gilmour uses what is called a “ talk box “ on this album . He sends the sound of his guitar into that box. This sends him back down a tube directly into his mouth. He goes out of his way to modulate it and send it back to us by means of the microphone placed in front of his mouth. You will see him using this system in the show PULSE during the song “KEEP TALKING”

Just stumbled, literally, on you guys. First LP of pf I ever purchased was Piper at the gates of dawn. Saucer full of secrets. Meddle, Uma guma. All great but if you start at the beginning you can hear the future. People thought I was weird because the music was different, not main stream. An acquired taste so to speak. Speaking of such, you guys are an instant hit with me and my boys. You got the attitude. Way back when, people that talked like you were to be feared. Your accents I mean. But, people let go of their bullshit. I’m 68 , former US Army Airborne and me and my homie vets think you guys are are the s..t. Cool as f. Rock on and on guys. 🌎

The Beatles added "pig" sounds on their (George's) song "Piggies" from "The White Album." All four original members of Pink Floyd - Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright - recorded music literally right next door to The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios in London. Here's how Pink Floyd first met The Beatles: The chance meeting between the two bands happened on 21st of March in 1967 - coincidentally, the two bands were both working on their respective albums in Abbey Roads Studios in London; Pink Floyd was working on their debut, Piper at The Gates of Dawn, while The Beatles were recording what many consider one of the best albums ever made, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. They happened to be recording in rooms adjacent to one another - The Beatles were in Studio 2 while Pink Floyd was in Studio 3. Floyd were scheduled to record from 2:30pm until 7:30pm - as it were, The Beatles were due at the studio just as Pink Floyd finished their first shift. Norman Smith happened to have been producing Pink Floyd’s debut effort, and therein lies the connection. Smith worked as a studio engineer for The Beatles right up until 1965. Since the boys in Pink Floyd knew about this connection, they had virtually begged their producer to ask George Martin if they could pop into Studio 2 to watch the Fab Four work. Writer Hunter Davies, who was there, recalls the situation: “A man in a purple shirt called Norman arrived. He used to be one of their recording engineers and now had a group of his own, [The] Pink Floyd. Very politely he asked George Martin if his boys could possibly pop in to see the Beatles at work. George smiled, unhelpfully. Norman said perhaps he should ask John personally, as a favour. George Martin said no, that wouldn’t work. But if by chance he and his boys popped in about eleven o’clock, he might just be able to see what he could do.” Acceding Smith’s request, George Martin allowed Syd Barrett and his gang of creative artists to hang out and observe in the control room. Pink Floyd’s drummer, Nick Mason, recalls the momentous occasion: “We were ushered into Studio Two where the Fab Four were busy recording ‘Lovely Rita.’ The music sounded wonderful, and incredibly professional. We sat humbly and humbled, at the back of the control room while they worked on the mix, and after a suitable period of time had elapsed, we were ushered out again… They were God-like figures to us.” It is clear that Pink Floyd had then and still do have an enormous amount of respect for the Fab Four. Most importantly, they would agree with the sentiment that Sgt. Pepper’s was one of the greatest albums ever made; Nick Mason added: “They all seemed extremely nice, but they were in a strata so far beyond us that they were out of our league.” It seemed that Pink Floyd understood the importance of Sgt. Peppers as an era-defining record for the ‘Summer of Love’. Roger Waters shares his sentiments on the record: “I remember when Sgt. Pepper came out, pulling the car over into a lay by, and we sat there and listened to it. Somebody played the whole thing on the radio. And I can remember sitting in this old, beat up Zephyr Four, like that.” In the interview, he recounts the way he looked when he sat still, imitating his agape look. While the two bands, especially in regards to their sound, are very different from one another; it is a strange coincidence and a sure sign of the zeitgeist, that while one band was recording their debut and the other was recording their eighth and most significant record, both records are considered psychedelic records. This occasion will forever hold a special place in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

At 12:00, when they said "Whitehouse" they were referring not to the U.S White House but Mary Whitehouse, who was a prominent social and religious conservative activist in the UK in the 1970s.

@@Frau44 That's why you MUST buy the album and listen to the stuff they don't play on the radio. That's where I've found the songs that I love more than the ones they played to death.
