Pink Floyd Studio Recording of Brain damage

My own tribute to 40 years of 'The Dark Side of the Moon'. Joined the scattered snippets of the song 'Brain Damage' from the band's studio sessions of the album recording as seen in 'Live at Pompeii'. Filled the missing end sections with corresponding sections of the released version, synchronised to fireworks that I recorded over the London Millennium bridge. What's different in this version is Gilmour's raw guitar works for the song which was left out from the released album.

I saw them in '94 on the Division Bell tour, but I wish I could have seen them during this era. Unfortunately I was still a year or two from being born.

indeed these were filmed only because the director of "pink floyd at pompeii" wanted to extend its original movie, only 60 minutes long. So he asked Roger to film them while they were recording their future "dark side of the moon". They said ok but they already recorded all the album, and they were only working (with alan parsons) at the final mix. But as all the filming equipement were there, they were PRETENDING to overdub some of the parts. Indeed all these parts were discarded as the album was already complete. These great scenes were there only to make the movie longer.... what a pity not to have all the filming equipement in the studio during the true recording days! Spin-off story: after mixing "dark side", alan parsons founded its own group with a touch of mistery, imagination robot, pyramid, eve, friendly card, and eye in the sky [and so on]

They really should’ve kept David’s riffs over the song. Occasionally I’ll have to revert back to this video just to hear it

- Have you altered your tone controls, Dave? - No. - You altered your volume controls? - I don't think so. Why? What's different? - Didn't sound quite as toppy. - It didn't sound as toppy? It must have been as toppy. The only thing it could have been is less toppy. More toppy, rather.

I'm not exactly sure on the history but the dialog may be in comparison of this solo, using the custom Davis Lewis guitar, as compared to the solo section used in the DSOTM master. David may have used his black strat for the DSOTM master. The track here played on the custom David Lewis Guitar may be uniquely for the Pompeii film.

Pink Floyd WILL NEVER become a “relic.” Pink Floyd is a Masterpiece that will go on forever. ❤️

“Unfortunately, we mark a sort of era. I mean, we’re in danger of becoming a relic of the past.” This band wasn’t just ahead of their time, but they also knew the cons of what came with making the future sound, and how when that future comes it won’t be the same future any longer.

Don’t live in the past there’s no future in it. Someone needs to explain that to Roger as he rerecorded these songs in much crappier form for his latest solo project.

I admire Glimour's ability to not have strangled Roger Waters. Of the 3 Pink Floyd incarnations (Barrett era - Waters era - Gilmour era) the Gilmour incarnation was Pink Floyd at its finest.

I don't know if it's Pink Floyd at it's finest, but what the haters fail to realize is that David did some of his best guitar work in the post-Rogers era

Anyone know the story on the guitar David is playing in this? And don't simply say its his "black Strat." Because the headstock is NOT a fender headstock, and seems to have a logo that runs down the middle of the headstock, and across the top of the headstock. The body may very well be a Fender Strat, but the neck is something different.

Sufficient explanation for why this version was not on the album is brain damage. In this case, everything is absolutely right. It's a very interesting story. We still love both Roger and David.
