Got one today for $9 packaged in a box. It is a bigger and heavier than a the yellow one. It wasn’t tangy. It was mildly sweet and tender like watermelon . The yellow Maui pineapple , however;are the sweetest and even cuts on the corner of my lips. I ❤️the pink one like an occasional treat.
Omg I love the pink pineapple way better than the yellow pineapple. After I tried the pink pineapple I’m having a hard time going back to the yellow pineapple. Yo me the yellow pineapple is sweeter but it also has a bitter taste at the same time. Uggh I was hoping I’d hate the pink pineapple just because the price of it is $15 here.
Great video! With great review. Yes I was also thinking the same that its colour is same as water melon. I will too give it a try. Hey 👋 new on your channel
Great video! I havent been able to find these yet, but with such a steep pricetag I think I will stick to the classic yellow fellow :) Another reason why I won't buy them is because they actually remove the tops of the crown speciiffically so people CAN'T grow it. As Del Monte owns the exclusive "rights" to this crop and growing them yourself is illegal. While I understand the company doesn't want people to profit off of growing and selling something they created, the idea of big companies controlling and owning the "rights" of food creeps me right out. The same is true for all GM crops. There have been lawsuits against farmers who have seed-saved other crops and grown them without buying new.
Why are you surprised the genetically modified fruit wasn't as good as the regular pineapple. Regular pineapple is perfect the way it is but if you so feel inclined Tajin goes with pineapple perfectly. Sweet and Spicy.
@@isaacperez1850 yes i do. But not every pineapple, but if i dont know the kind of pineapple or if its a very delicious one,i regrow them. To see what comes out at the end. The crown makes roots fast if you let it stay in water for a few weeks, only keeping the root points under water by adding water every week. I have 5 at the Moment. I am from Austria and i always have to keep them in my Kitchen at the south window. My Oldesloe ones are 8 years old with 1,50 meter leaves. I had to wait 4 Years to get the first blossoms, but they both bloomed at the same time. It was great. And since then,i get 1 pineapple every year. And my pineapple plants did not die after i harvested the fruit. Its an neverending circle of growing pineapple plants that all came out of another one. Its sooo huge!!! But alive and growing

I’ve purchased some pink pineapple after this video but only for things like Valentine’s Day or special occasions where I want pink. Otherwise, I love yellow pineapple. 😍
I got. A Pink Glow Pineapple at a produce stand for $12. At first I thought nope not messin with my love of 🍍 but I thought what the heck. I should have went with my first thought. The flavor is not tat good. It somehow has less flavor and water to me… it’s a no for me in the future.
I have to agree as a pineapple lover that it didn’t wow me. Pink glow is meant to be sweeter and I just love regular pineapple as it has a sweet and sour balance.
I guess they harvest a not quite ripe regular pineapple with the stem, place it in red coloured water, let the pineaple soak the colour into the fruit, remive the crown that you cant regrow it and sell it for much money
I was pretty excited to try it and then it wasn't anything spectacular. Pineapple is one of my favorites and I love the bold flavors of sweet and sour, the pink is just sweet. 😄 Not horrible, but I wouldn't spend more than $2.99 on it, which is what a regular pineapple typically costs here.
@@KnowYourProduce Too bad for you that the white pineapple can't get to you. It tastes like yellow pineapple, but its acid level is way down. You get the sweet and sour without the burn you can get with yellow pineapple. Unfortunately, the white is notoriously difficult to tell when it is ripe. Most people would think that the ripe white pineapple is still green when it is ready. Because it is, mostly. When ripe, the white pineapple is green and purple with a subtle yellowish blushing near the bottom . If you wait until the top of the fruit starts to yellow, the bottom will have started to ferment due to the sugar content. It takes a discerning eye to pick the white pineapple at the right time. This made the white pineapple commercially unviable. If you get to Hawaii, you should try it.
@@KnowYourProduce They only cut the leaves off the top, the roots are still on the pineapple, so they are not cutting the tops so they can replant them like they say they are.
@@3000gtwelder ,they cut the leaves to weaken the crown. Without the leaves, the crown won't be able to grow well and the resulting plant/plants will be weak and in the higher latitudes probably die. You'll need alot of effort to get healthy plants from the mutilated crown and for most people, it's not worth that effort. It is Del Monte's way to delay the inevitable reproduction of the plant. They'll get the higher profits while they can. From the results of this video, it's popularity will probably wane with its novelty. That will last as long as Del Monte keeps it rare. But for those fortunate with the patience and climate, they will be able to grow their own.
@@kahoaalohamalalis8841 Your totally right! My point was that they were lying by saying that the reason they cut the tops off was for them to replant. We all know you can't regrow a pineapple with a leaf, so it is B.S. by them saying that.
Haha thanks! I was so let down, but I really think if you get a good one, it could be better? I'm not convinced on the pricing for that though haha. We had two and the second was better, but nowhere as good as the yellow to me. I love the balance of sour and sweet. :)
@@KnowYourProduce it was horrible!! Not very sweet, but juicy.,Not worth the hype. That’s why I why I guess it was so cheap.. A waste of 7 bucks. Also, at first i didn’t know it was genetically modified, but I decided to taste it anyways. Still have half in the refrigerator, as much as I don’t want to eat it, I hate the fact I have to throw all this money out!!
