What is the cymbal looking think in the in the center on top of the rack. Mike mentioned what it was many years ago in a video. Can’t seem to find that. Thx
With a state of the art output stage, a volume control dac should out perform a line level dac + preamp... despite Jays claims otherwise and I think your setup sounds better! The Panther is AUDIBLY pinker and is the one and only truly original panther pink from head to no preamp. Suggest you upgrade to MIT Zanussi cables. They have a washing machine half way down the cable that really cleans up the sound and digs all the dirt out of the vinyl groove. Must be supported by giraffes on its way from power amp to speaker as their freckled backs induce quantum distortion reduction of the megaflow down each cable. That takes over 100m of cable toeach speaker so unfortunately a cool $100m per side (giraffes not included). @jaysaudiolab
Look. I understand if people are taught that you don't need a preamp,(IF you are 100% digital, and IF your DAC has a high level volume control), then it will reduce the bottom line for brick and mortar stores. They have high overhead, and NEED every penny they can pull from you. Therefore it makes perfect sense a guy paid to promote some brick and mortar stores would pitch whatever helps thier profits. It's business. And it's also a GAME that's played on you, the buyer. This practice is employed in every market across the board. So it's not new and it's normal. My job is simply to educate the buyer through videos like this. Is it possible buyers have been lied to about needing the antiquated preamp ? Vinyl as being the best sound ? It just deserves the conversation.
@OCDHIFiGuy 100% agree ... and the biggest markup of all is on cables. without the margin on cables the high end hifi industry would probably collapse thats why they have to sell the snake oil and pretend it's real even though they know it isn't.
I listened first on my HT system with YT. Then I pulled this song up on Qobuz to hear it on my ultimate Hifi rig. I have a very detailed and resolving system. So yes, I could hear spittle. To me the recording was in my face and I had to lower the volume a bit. Both the Bass mic and the Sax mic were placed too close- my opinion. In fact, the mic on the Sax sounded like it was halfway up the tunnel of the Sax. If a Sax player heard this song on my system, I'm sure he could tell me what brand of reed the guy was using. Now, the question is, if the information is in the recording and a resolving system brings all that detail out, is that not better than a less resolving system glossing over all of that detail? Because I can listen to plenty of better recordings all day long.
Great question. I'll answer it with another. Do you wish to be held hostage by your audio system and it's required "audiophile recordings", or do you wish to enjoy an unlimited array of recordings and transcend the anxiety associated with the former ? Neither one is wrong. Choose your own experience. I'll take relaxation and alleviation of any and all concerns..

@@OCDHIFiGuy As I refined my system and increased the detail it was both a curse and a blessing. The added detail and tonal refinements were thrilling but at the same time distracting. I learned to tune out the distractions preventing me from having to "detune" my system. Once I heard that level of detail I didn't want to go back. I have a handful of songs that I cannot listen to on my rig due to mic clipping. It comes across very badly yet I do not hear the clipping on the same songs in my car or with Sony headphones.
My system is both thrilling and relaxing but on the other hand, I cannot listen to it in total darkness- too spooky. In some recordings I can hear people talking and even moving about the room. Every so often I will turn my head because it sounded like someone was next to me. Sure, I could dial back the detail easy enough by reducing the amount of component isolation or make a cable change. But I am addicted to the current sound.
@@OCDHIFiGuy Try these songs: "Live with the Lie" by The Bacon Brothers. The sound is spellbinding to me. Big stage- like I'm there in the bar at a table near the front. Another album, Carly Simon Live at Grand Central. It sounds awesome. It has the ambience and feel that I am standing in Grand Central Station. I don't live with audiophile recordings- too boring. Plenty of music out there that thrills and chills.
Getting jays sound with ess dac with pre and your sound smooth with ps audio direct stream dac crappy m700 amps and spl phonitor with pre or without same result.. proving its not the pre amp its the dac.. 😮😮😊😊 might hit u up pair those speakers 😊
Sounds awesome Mikeeeey! I'm convinced now that you and Jay need to open a brick n mortar store together. It will be called Big Jay and Lil Mikey's Sound Garage and it will be located in Jay's garage! You gotta move to Miami bro!
I have to totally disagree with you on this one. I can hear box coloration in the bass notes and there is so much missing information in the saxophone 🎷, it doesn’t sound real whatsoever. All I can hear is digital missing information. I can’t agree that this sounds good in any way shape or form. Sorry, but I cannot agree with you on this one.
LOL. Costa, we already know you are a Jay loving troll. You lie just to make these vids look bad, which you are incapable of due to how unbelievable your comments are. Lol. Box Coloration ? Lol. Total liar. It's impossible with stone. You are full of it and it's obvious... let's judge by you're the only one saying it. Plus your name is hires Costa. "HiRes" audio is complete Bullshit.. for ME. If you love to listen to music like you are smoking crack, then go ahead. Lol.
@@OCDHIFiGuy Not true. When I heard your system at the show it was extremely musical. I give credit where credit is due. Box colorization is not impossible with stone. It’s based upon the volume of air inside bouncing around the inside of the box and making its way through the back side of the cone. And there is so many missing bits and pieces of information with that saxophone, it doesn’t sound true to life. There’s no need to attack people that disagree with you. I know you have the potential to be more spiritual than that. Audio Hesus. 😂
not sure you could even have an opinion listening over youtube through microphones and another audio system altogether. That's a long audio path with a lot of opportunities to color the sound.
