I did the same with my Fender Japan Modern HH Strat. It was significantly brighter than my other guitars so I swapped the EMG 81 I had in the bridge for an 85 - et voilà! With the 85 it's now my favorite guitar.
I agree with you Euge, I've played many many guitars and have owned lots of guitars from 1987 till now. Only guitars I have still are ESP. They are the best! Great playing as always, loved the SRV and Hendrix. 🎉🎉🎉

I've experimented with EMG 81/85's in the bridge position of a few different guitars. Some guitars sound/work better with the 85 in the neck, and others the bridge benefits more from it. Having two 81's in the same guitar, I never quite understood? Like having 2 JB's or Distortions? Makes little sense to me? 13.8" fretboard radias is what they're using now, I believe. Thats what my LTD '87 Eclipse NT anniversary edition has. It was built in the very first run out of the Cortek factory in Indonesia back in December of 2019. Since then, production has shifted back and forth between South Korea and Indonesia multiple times. The only real difference I've noticed, is a few of the electronic parts are slightly higher quality out of the Korean factory. Otherwise theres no QC advantages either way. Peace Euge! Killer tone and playing! Love the 80's guitars with the NON recessed Floyds. The neck angle IS more comfy. The guitar reminds me of those late Kramer Stage Master guitars - I think ESP built those too.
I love an 85 in bridge, currently running a Bonebreaker Neck pickup in My bridge spot but definitely going to replace that with an 89 soon so I can still have just a bridge pickup with the 85 sound but also a push/pull pot for splitting options
1980s... when ESP was as good as today but half the price and with the ESP tag instead of being preempted by the custom shop. Wonderful era as this instrument testifies. Awesome song though!
It looks like the original VH1 from Barça of the pre-Jackson era, before EVH replaced Electrovoice and Kramer like replicas. If they've got Les Paul's LTD, why not that egyptian relic?! Long life the Irons. I don't know. Namastè.
Do i sense a move toward the esp super strat guitars from the LP's??..they are more comfy to play and the neck through still give you balls of the LP..win win all around.. can you show us the tip repair they did?..assume it was professional job.. my 1989 Mirage custom is no going anywhere soon..
@@TheChingazo Dude I have a few guitars over here, never cared much about the headstock, but just very recently I realized how much I love reverse headstocks, I don't have any guitars with reverse headstocks! I need one so bad!
I don't know what ESP deal with another guitar company that they won't make concord headstock anymore. If only they released limited edition of this guitar, it would be awesome. I don't dig LTD 86 solely because of headstock shape. How do you ask ESP japan to repair that guitar for you ? Is it because you are an esp endorser ?

I get a kick out of the pronunciation of vintage, as wintage. Vintage and winning go together real slick like. A piece of gear thats "wintage" sounds far superior.
