Trompetist Joao Almeida is een jonge veelbelovende improvisator met een eigenzinnige stem en met een aanzienlijke solo ervaring opgebouwd in de afgelopen drie jaar. In zijn improvisaties spelen stilte en herhaling een belangrijke rol. Zelf zegt Joao Almeida ‘The most interesting pieces are the ones where technique serves the loose narratives and develop fragile dynamics, radiate nervous urgency of sketching a fragment of a story that imagine the rhythmic cycles and rattling sounds of an archaic train or has a quiet and meanchly character’.
Trumpeter Joao Almeida is a young, promising improviser with a distinctive voice and considerable solo experience built over the past three years. In his improvisations, silence and repetition play a crucial role.
