Given the budget nature of that gat, rather than spend on ceracote, rattle can it with some kind of polyurethane paint. Rustoleum make lots of colours. Rub it down with degreaser first, then cut sic with a couple of light coats. It's fun and really helps protect against that super fine surface rust
I could not find Rustoleum were I live, but I found heat resistant paint from Wurth , and it is great but you have to bake it at 250 c for about 30 mins or so .
@@thematrix248 yes, that's the same general polyurethane product. After baking in pieces in your domestic oven on the highest temp it goes, it is a very strong finish. I heard of one guy who put it over a fire, suspended inside a tipped over 44 gallon drum, and he used a BBQ gauge to judge temperature. If folks really really want to ..... they'll find a way!
omfg really ? I have been handling firearms for over 50 years.the first few things you learn are how to handle and maintain your weapons. you handle that weapon you wipe that weapon down with a oiled cloth or a silicone wipe.i see so many keyboard commandos with firearms that clearly have no real knowledge of weapons and it is scary.
The salt from your sweat will make it rust. Romanian AK47s are notorious for this as well. I live 10 miles from the coast so I oil my guns every few months whether they have been out and about of not.
Buy a dehumidifier. I live next to the ocean, too. The air is more humid than you think. I empty mine nearly twice a day. Also, wash your hands before you handle the rifle, especially if you have sweaty hands, and wipe your hand prints off.
@@bronzeguy9839 I have a dehumidifier but it can only do so much. Its the older guns that are the issue. Those com block guns are hot blued in a salt solution. They rust up super easy. So i keep em oiled and keep lubed and I never have an issue.
It got to the point I soaked it in motor oil an then let it drip dry. It had a thick coat of oil an still rusted completely to the point I needed a mallet In order to even get the bolt open. I then took a plastic scrubber an some warm oil an got all the rust off an it hasn’t rusted sense. I’ve seen cold bluing for exactly that before if they don’t neutralize the chemicals properly so I’m gunna assume it was caused by that.
Been having mine for about 6 months and tbh I haven’t had any problems I keep them oiled and cleaned I guess I clean them more than I’m supposed to but it’s just a fun hobby I guess having OCD keeps my fire Arms in great condition 😂 I have the same style AK for the price it ain’t bad but I guess people are gonna say you get what you pay for
Work at it with mother's mag and aluminum polish on a rag or shop towel. Better than new in my opinion, but it will be polished instead of matte depending on how long you work it in.
Yeah cheap guns like that you better go ahead and factor a cerakote job into the price of the gun because without it you'll be fighting rust the whole way. I've dealt with this issue before on other guns. Its most likely just sub par finish. Cerakoting the gun will protect it from rust permanently as far as the exterior goes.
I was able to get the rust to stop after stripping it an bathing it in oil. I was reliable for a couple years as a truck gun an I just sold it to a gun shop who completely reblued it put it back on the shelf for 750 used
I don’t really want to paint it. I’ve never encountered anything like this. All my steal mags are fine and the barrel an dust cover haven’t rusted. Everything else is covered. Go onto my community page an check out the photo I just posted
@@lionlocVanDwellington mother's mag and aluminum polish and a rag might do the trick. Will make it look a little more polished too. Did it when my Riley defense when it started rusting even worse than yours and it looks like better than when I got it and more polished.
Wait till you see my next video on this gun…it’s so bad if I let it sit for more then a day I almost need a hammer to get the bolt back…straight rusted shut…I bathe this thing in oil weekly.
A couple mags worth but I always cleaned an oiled it. I think it had something to do with the finish bc I scrubbed a layer of rust off it bc the whole ride had gone. I used a plastic scrubber an warm oil taking away almost all the finish am it hasn’t rusted sense. Before I scrubbed the finish off it would rust even when coated in oil.
The thing with corrosive salts is you need to wash the gun down in water only for a 5 min spray to neutralise the Corrosive salts then dry clean as normal but you have to spray clean the gun with clean water first.
@@lionlocVanDwellington Ah, must be the old version. Pioneer just came out with a new line of rifles that have forged trunnions, but I haven’t seen any videos on them yet. It would be interesting to see how your cast rifle holds up, if it holds headspace.
@@lionlocVanDwellington look at the part number on the box it came in. The part number carries either a C for cast, and F for the forged version. You can tell, just by reading the numbers on the box to identify which one you have there. I'm interested to know as well..
