Thank you so much for your informative and easy to follow tutorials on the CDJ200. As a professional DJ since 1980 I have only recently moved from Technics 1200 turntables and Denon variable pitch cd players to the CDJ200 Your precise and friendly lessons have explained this somewhat basic piece of equipment extremely well....cheers DJ Thrust (Australia)
hi j. i opennly admit im a partyy dj/ compare in tenerife iv recently swapped bars where its more djin and mixin which is wat i want ,an jus wanted to say big thanks with ur vids hel ppl r tellin me im a wicked dj for me mixin ,im not they dnt no wat good djs sound like but still ur vids r the only way i learnt an ill keep watchin
In that case I reccomend the CDJ-200. It is a good beginners CDJ. It is a newer model than the 100, and it really feels more advanced. It's got a more accurate pitch-controll, mp3-support and you can press play/pause while your playing the track with the que-button held down, and the track keeps on playing when you release que. Once you get used to this it is hard to go back to the CDJ-100. :D When it comes to mixers I would suggest Pioneer DJM-400, if it's within your budget.
yes! keep it coming with the cdj-200 tutorials, i actually bought one because i knew you'd show how to use it, but that's all I have, this is an expensive hobby.
nice tutorial john! u've missed to talk about the difference between speeding up or slow down the record with the master tempo off,but not very important. keep up like this
in indie songs, there is a lot of variation in tempo, so a turntable with a large pitch range would help. also- there are LOADS of super sick remixes out there for most of the indie bands you mentioned. thats what i mix with. the remixes. some remixes arent very similar to the original, but there are a lot that are similar, just with a house/ 4-4 beat.
Good video. If you have used the pitch slider perfectly, each beat is actually at the same speed. If you put it in at the wrong place it's not actually faster or slower, it's just not in sync with the other beat. So the actually use of the jog wheel would be only to slow down or speed up the beat until they are in sync, when there you would have to let go of the wheel at the perfect moment, just like pressing the play button.
The CDJ400 is better than the CDJ200, but it is also more expensive. Note that the CDJ200 is an entry-level CDJ. Some distinguishing feature are not so great, but example, the track searching which is too slow, but in comparison with other CDJs of its kind (price range), it is actually the best, even if it doesn't have scratching ability (like a Denon DN-S1200, for example).
I would recomend the CDJ-400. It does cost a bit more than the two others. But if you can aford it, I would say you get a lot more for your money than if you buy one of the other two.
The 400 has much better mp3 support than the 200, the 200 tends to work poorly if you have mp3's with "variable bitrate". Another bonus is the 400's "vinyl mode" and the extra effects, witch you can use for scratching if you want. The biggest advantage over the 200 though, is in my oppinion the increased accuracy of the pitch-controll. The CDJ-400 could easily be an even better player than the CDJ-800.
hey, was just wondering, I havent gotten to start Dj'ing yet, but I really really want to, but I dont know what to start with, is a dubble cdj-200 + a mixer good for a beginner? or maybe too good? I love what ur doing ellaskins, keep em coming ;)
very good video.. just wondering are the cdj 200s any good, like sound quality and holding the mix. also what do you think is better xone 22 or ddm 4000.. plz reply thanks ..
Great tutorial like everyone from you. THX. I have a double CD player Numark CDN USB for home disco use. Is it more difficult to handle it like a CDJ Pioneer ?
Is there any difference btw the Pioneer CDJ 800MK2 and the Pioneer CDJ-200 that you used in this video? I'm talking about the layout of the cdj. Pioneer CDJ-200 has a whole silver jog wheel, while the Pioneer CDJ 800MK2 has that "display" in the middle of it and while the song is playing it starts to turn. Thankx.
hi very good video. just wondering are the cdj 200s any good via sound quality and holding the mix ect ... and what would you recoomend xone 22 or vmx 200.. plz reply thanks ...
can you use the jog wheel to do spin backs and scratching and is it worth investing in the next modle up i'm thinking about getting some cdj's but want a set that will grow with me as i get better.
yo man i need help. I am about to get some cdj 200s like tonight, and i am wondering do you use itunes? becuase most of my music has been bought off itunes and they are all in mpeg4 protected format, so i am wondering does the cdj 200 play mpeg4s?
the 100 is front loading like the 200. the one with a top loading cd tray that pops open is the cdj 500... really old gear =] they do look a lot different than the cdj200 tho
there are also people who want to buy those but before that they will start to learn a bit about how to use it. i mean, u cant know from urself what the jogweel does, someone must tell it, now this guy here does that.
dude do not burn john. he is the don i dont knw were id b wit out jon butta rhythm and ryhme thts something you cnt learn for jonathan on u tube its a talent
I think you messed up the explanation of starting the tune and then bending to beat. If you press it too early it's not behind but early and you need to slow it down and vice versa if you press it late it will be late and needs to speed up. you said opposite. Anyway the idea remains.
There truely are people that do not have clue that's why the explanations and 13year old I want to be djs. There are more simple videos even from Jonathan like what is platter and what is it for, what is crossfader and what is it for etc...
this is confusing if you start the track too early surely you need to slow it down and not speed it up or else you will have bass firing over a top hat. And also the same if you start late, you need to catch up and not slow down ??????
Why use the jogwheel in a mix? Why would anybody have some cdj200's if they havent got a clue how to use them? Its quite obvious what the jogwheel is for ? =/
